Subject: Kirtland's warbler weekend

A good time was had by all dozen birders on the June 13-15 TNA Kirtland's warbler weekend. The weather was great and we found 108 species including, of course, the target bird of the trip, Kirtland's warbler. Other highlights were 14 other warblers, Golden-winged among them; Sedge wren, a lifer for some in the group; Clay-colored sparrows and Brewer's blackbirds; Evening grosbeak; displaying Upland sandpipers; Ospreys on nests; ravens; and calling Barred owls and Whip-poor-wills at the camp. Thanks to Steve Stockford for use of his family's hunting camp for our headquarters and for his quick scope work on all of the birds.
