Subject: Blue Grosbeak

The Blue Grosbeak is still present today at the Girdham and Reed site in the Oak Openings although it seems to be getting more difficult to locate.
I had been unable to locate the bird in my two previous attempts this past week.
Today the bird spent a large amount of time on the very western edge of the field northwest of the intersection, singing very softly. Twice he appeared briefly at the intersection.

Two male Summer Tanagers were at the bike trail on Girdham and a third male was about 200 yards south of the trail.

A Chat was still singing south of the Wilkins/Sager intersection.

Lark Sparrows are silent right now but were feeding young at a nest near Girdham and Reed.

And the Summer Tanager at Wildwood Metropark has been singing in the trees near the Metroparks Hall building.

Rick
