Subject: Lake Eric Shoreline Fieldtrip Report, March 22

March is a prime month for duck migration, and all the common ducks, excepting only Ruddy duck, were found along the lake shore on the Saturday, March 22, field trip led by Matt Anderson. Notable were excellent numbers of Redhead and Pintail. A few Tundra swans and pair of Sandhill cranes were found the fields east of Maumee State Park, and an American bittern was discovered by Tom Kemp along the Crane Creek causeway. On the Bird Trail, Fox sparrows, Winter wrens, and Woodcock were the highlights. The overcast sky, spitting occasional light rain, suppressed hawk migration, but small numbers of Red-tailed, Red-shouldered, and Cooper's hawks, Turkey vultures and Northern harriers were moving olong the lake.

(Sorry, Greg, we dipped on Brewer's blackbird.)
