Subject: Bayshore Osprey; Mallard Club Sandhill Crane

There were two Osprey present at the Oregon Public Access point (west of the Bayshore Supper Club) this morning. One bird was perched in the tree hanging above the boat ramp while the other circled over it. Later, I saw one with a pretty good sized fish.

At Mallard Marsh, a single immature Sandhilll Crane was on top of the dike running directly north, just east of the parking lot (where the Garganey was most often viewed, or attempted to be viewed, from). It flew and huddled in the marsh for a few minutes before finally flying northwest and into Maumee Bay State Park. A pair of immature eagles circled over as well. A large duck flock left the marsh as I arrived, most were Blue-winged Teal. Also present: GW- Teal, a pair of American Black Duck, Mallard, Pied-billed Grebe, American Coot, Wood Duck, and Hooded Merganser. I'm probably forgetting some.

At Maumee Bay, there was a Horned Grebe with a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers in the large inland swimming lake, though the birds were in the smaller seperated "pond" nearest to the ranger station. GREAT looks at the birds.

A single Horned Lark was very cooperative off of Krause road.
