Subject: Spring migration

The Rosenbergs, Cathy and I had a very productive afternoon at Crane Creek and vicinity. The highlights along the boardwalk included 7 species of warblers including black and white, blue winged, worm eating, yellow-rumped, yellow, palm, black throated green, blue headed and yellow throated vireos, white throated, field and song sparrows, hermit and wood thrush, many ruby crowned kinglets,house, winter and carolina wrens, and rusty blackbirds. Along the causeway, we saw snowy egret, bw teal, gadwalls and several broad winged hawks.

At the flooded fields at SR-2 and Benton-Carroll roads we saw appoximately 12 pectoral sandpipers, 10-12 greater yellowglegs,1 solitary sandpiper, 50+ dunlins and Am Wigeons.

Fortunately the rain held off until late afternoon.
