Harry-

Your doves do sound interesting. Can you email pictures to me? Or, you could email me privately with where you live, and I may be able to arrange for someone to come look at the doves.

Young Mourning doves are mottled to varying degrees. However, your description of the birds' tail is pretty good for Common ground-dove. A Common ground-dove's tail is actually dark (blackish) with white on the very outer tail feathers.

A Common ground-dove's bill would be bi-colored, if I remember correctly--with the base pink, and the tip black.

Do your birds have rufous wings?

Again, please send photos if at all possible to harpy@buckeye-express.com, or email me with your phone number, or call the NW Ohio RBA (419)877-9640 and leave a message with your number, and I will get in touch with you very soon.

Thanks,

Greg Links
