Subject: Pipits galore, buntings, longspurs and Horned Larks

It can be difficult at times to get a good look at Pipits, but today I found a great spot for them. It is at the corner of Rangeline and Maplewood in Wood County, about 4 miles south of route 6. There is a new "factory farm" (pigs ?) located at that corner and the muddy field surrounding this facillity was attracting the prairie birds.

Pipits were flying and landing all around me, as close at 15 feet from me. I could see every detail without binocs. There were dozens if not 100's in the puddles, fields and on the road.

Also present were some Longspurs, Snow Buntings and hundreds of Horned Larks.

This may turn out to be a great spot for these birds in the winter.

Chuck
