H = all-time high count Count-week species: Turkey vulture, Ruby-crowned kinglet,
Hermit thrush, Fox sparrow

Comments: Much colder than normal December and completely frozen marshes hurt our duck list as did a total lack of
winter finches and other northern invaders (Snowy owl, Red-breasted nuthatch, Northern shrike). On the positive side,
note record-smashing robin and waxwing counts. Much lower than normal counts of titmouse, chickadee, crows,
blue jays, and brown creepers were expected as a result of the redrawing of our count circle (and the accompanying
exclusion of most of the best wooded areas for these species).
