Subject: Lake La Su An field trip

This will be a brief report although I have responded in more detail to Brian's request.

The field trip was a success with 73 species listed for the day including 10 warblers and 7 sparrow species either seen or heard by at least one member of the group. Good looks were had by all of a prothonotary warbler and brief glimpses of a cerulean were enough to satisfy those who managed them. Other warblers included blue-winged, yellow, yellow-throated, Am. redstart, ovenbird, common yellowthroat, hooded and yellow-breasted chat. Grassland birds included grasshopper sparrow, dickcissel, bobolink and what was the highlight of the day for many, a close look at a Henslow's sparrow.

If planning a trip to lake La Su An, be sure to keep an eye for the ticks. They were abundant.
