Subject: Census at CPNWR Aug 10

Did our census at Cedar Point NWR today, Aug 10. Some migrants were to be found.

Swallows are really staging in the marshes. Had over 1,000 swallows today at Cedar Point NWR of all expected species.

Tree-609
Bank-412
Barn-244
Rough-winged-35
Cliff-1
Martin-55

A handful of shorebirds were present - 9 species, nothing unusual.

In the warbler department, a Northern waterthrush was a fall migrant, and the number (36) and locations of Yellow warblers in the refuge indicated migration as well.

Add in elevated numbers of hummingbirds (16) and kingbirds (15)--and it tells us that FALL IS HERE!!!!

76 total species.
