Subject: Christmas Count Owling--leaders and participants wanted

For those interested in owling on this Sunday's Toledo Christmas Bird COunt, please let me know by either sending me an email or leaving a message on the NW Ohio Rare Bird Alert at 419-877-9640.

The Toledo count record for number of Eastern screech-owls is a rather paltry 25, established just last year on the strength of one group's efforts.

We would like to see that number put to rest this year, with a solid owling effort across the entire count circle.

We have a couple of groups set to go already, but we need many more areas covered.

While other owls are possible, like Great-horned, the Eastern screech owl will be the main target for the nocturnal work to be done before breakfast.

Anyone with a tape recorder and access to some habitat (which is not much for this species) can contribute!
