Subject: thousand of ducks and geese

Metzger's Marsh had a load of Mallards and Black Ducks in the unit, out near the dike by the lake today 01/12/02. Many more waterfowl were observed just west of Metzger's along Howard Rd. Multiple thousands of birds including Mallards, Black Ducks and Canada Geese as well as ~100 SNOW GEESE split about 60/40 white/blue. Also picked out 3 Pintail and ~20 Swans (presumably Tundra) in the field and 1 N. Shoveler in flight above the field.

Someone with a scope and better guestimating skills than I should go check this area out tomorrow. Surely more duck species to be found and I'm curious to what kind of # others would put on the flock.
