Perhaps you should go see Bowling for Columbine. One thing i do wish to point out to you is that at one point you mentioned that the people of Tianamin Square died because they had no guns. I refute this, merely by pointing out that if all of you gun loving nuts had your guns on you and were protesting in front of the White House, a bunch of tanks would still kill you just as quickly. The Chinese students were using peace to protest, for no amount of guns would have gotten their point across. They were much more effective without guns.
It is people like you that [and this is in no way personal...merely more of an observation] create a culture of fear. Suddenly everyone needs a gun to protect themselves from all of the "bad guys" out there, and the fear burns deep in your hearts. Crime has gone down 20%, but your reporting of it has gone up something like 600%. I have heard many stories of someone hearing movement in their house in the middle of a still night, and in fear they grab their big old 45., walking into the living room to shoot the "villain" only to find it was one of their kids looking at a Christmas tree. Useless deaths. I do not dispute that hunting rifles serve a purpose, yet hand guns for non-military or police apllications serve no other purpose than to continue a twisted "right" to bear arms.
I think if your close kin were suddenly slain by some wack job with a gun, having the right to carry said gun, your tune would change.
This all simply makes me glad that i do not live in America, where fear reigns supreme.
