You wrote: "The manicurist told her that this was an easy to apply product that she could apply herself. " There is no such thing as "easy to apply" in the world of nails, if there was what would anybody even need us for???? Most likely this tech just did a "fluff" fill with a gel viscosity glue (meaning thick glue).

Elegant GLASS is a fiberwrap system that uses a very thick gel type glue in conjunction with their fiberwrap system, and I assure you that it is NOT easy enough for a client to do at home with long lasting satisfactory results!

With enough practice, education and persistence she may get good enough to do her own eventually (after all, that is how many of us got started in nails to begin with, me included), but she will not have instantaneous success and nor will it be "easy".... in fact at first the results may look good (but most look awful), but the wearability, the way they hold up won't be there.

Glue by itself is NOT a good overlay material for nails as it is very brittle and will damage the natural nail when it breaks or chips off.
