Subject: gel nails

I had a client that after the gels where applied, she complained of burning under each finger nail. It continued to burn the whole evening she said. She had to hold her fingers in cold water to relieve the pain. What could of caused this to happen? Then a few of the nail cracked and broke on her that very evening that I had done the nails. Please help me with this.
