I think I was in a similar situation not long ago when I asked Channel Seven for an episode of "Press Your Luck", and I got some similar response to what Edy suggested (i.e. they won't give me "copyright clearance... to purchase copies" of episodes of that show).
(Wonder if PYL will ever be shown on Channel Seven again...?)
