Steve was actually pretty much given the Sale gig at the start of 2003, but management at Nine changed, and two days after committing to the show, it was shelved... it was from here that Steve was offered the gig on Wheel. I really try to like him... nice guy, but not a natural at game show hosting...

who knows, maybe he would have been better at Sale than Wheel

As for all the gossip that Daryl Somers was going to host Sale... why? why? why?

btw, the hour-long version of Price would be good as a once-a-week thing, but I agree that as a nightly show it's a bit of overkill. The hour-long format actually was a weekly program in 1989, but very little survived that period of debacle at 10 (see the FAQ for futher info)
