IUPUI'S RON HUNTER HONORED BY THE BLACK COACHES ASSOCIATION
IUPUI basketball coach Ron Hunter was recently awarded the 2003 Images of Excellence award by the Black Coaches Association in a luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis.
The award, in its first year of existence, went to Hunter and Daniel Boggan Jr., Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the NCAA. The luncheon was set up by the BCA to recognize the accomplishments of high school student-athletes who exhibit sportsmanship values and who have excelled in their sports and community.
This year, more than 40 student-athletes from the Indianapolis area were honored during the event. Myles Brand, President of the NCAA, served as the keynote speaker for the luncheon.
“It means a lot to be honored by your peers for such a prestigious award,” Hunter said.
