CHICAGO STATE SUSPENDS BASEBALL COACH FOR 30 DAYS

CHICAGO, Illinois – Chicago State University Director of Athletics Al Avant announced the suspension of Head Baseball Coach Terrence Jackson for 30 days beginning September 1.

Jackson was suspended for a violation of the institution’s code of conduct. His suspension is not related to any violations of NCAA policy.

Avant said that Jackson would return to his duties as baseball coach on October 1. In the absence of Jackson, Avant has put the Assistant Coach Dennis Bonebreak in charge of running the day-to-day operations until Jackson’s return.

“In any organization there are rules and guidelines for behavior,” Avant said. “In this case, Jackson went a little further than the institution allows.”

Bonebreak will run the team through the beginning of fall strength and conditioning and also through the beginning of fall baseball.

Avant indicated that the suspension would only last 30 days and that Jackson’s job is not in jeopardy.

“Terrence has done a fine job as the baseball coach here at Chicago State,” Avant said. “It’s unfortunate this incident occurred, but sometimes things happen and a punishment is needed.”
