LADIES ADD TWO TO ROSTER FOR UPCOMING SEASON
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 23, 2003
CONTACT: David Pratt, SID

SHREVEPORT-Centenary Ladies basketball coach David Winkler has announced the additions of Jelena Aleksic and Nikki Grazier to the 2003-04 roster. Both players look to bring an immediate impact to the Centenary lineup.

Aleksic (Beograd, Yugoslavia) played for the Red Star club team and participated in the Yugoslavian National Program during her high school years. The six-foot forward averaged 15 points, ten rebounds, and five assists per game while gaining valuable experience. Although she will be 21 years old at the start of the season, she will be eligible to play all four years in college.

“Jelena is unusual in that because of her high level of international experience, she has a chance to have a tremendous impact as a freshman,” said Winkler. “At six feet tall, she can play all the perimeter positions as well as the post. She is extremely versatile and can score in a variety of ways.”

Grazier (McAllen, Tex.) transferred to Centenary from Texas Tech University where she redshirted last season as a freshman. The 5'9” guard can also play small forward. She averaged 15 ppg and 10 rpg at McAllen High School and earned numerous awards. Grazier was selected District 31-5A MVP and All-Valley twice. She was also named Area MVP, All-Area, All-State, second-team All-Region, TASO All-Star, and TGCA All-Star alternate.

“Nikki was a tremendous player at McAllen High School before sitting out last season at Texas Tech. Once she gets back into the swing of things, Nikki is going to have a strong impact on our team,” said Winkler. “She brings additional size to our backcourt which was a major point of emphasis for our current recruiting class.”

Centenary begins play in the Mid-Continent Conference during the upcoming 2003-04 season.
