OVERVIEW:
This matchup is the best 1-4 game on paper in this tournament. Even without Tamika Catchings, Tennessee brings in a talented starting 5 and bench into this game. Although their offense has improved gradually during the tournament, their defense has regressed. The Lady Vols would like to put ball pressure on Xavier, but it remains to be seen how often they do so. Inside, look for Michelle Snow and Semeka Randall to lead the way on offense. From outside, Kara Lawson and April McDivitt are sharp 3-point shooters (over 40% apiece). Key spot: shuttle between Gwen Jackson and Ashley Robinson. Robinson has gotten better; Jackson has gotten worse. Who will contribute?
On the Muskies side, they are coming in red-hot on 2 counts: offense and defense. They shot over 50% from the field in their 2 wins at home, including a torrid 26-for-47 behind the arc against U of L and Clemson. It's not likely they'll have such an output against Tennessee; Jennifer Phillips and Taru Tuukkanen both have to exploit Tennessee's weaknesses on defense. Defensively, Tuukkanen and Phillips both have to keep an eye on Snow and Randall; make Tennessee beat them from outside.

PREDICTION:
USA TODAY says that Tennessee is a 14-point favorite; look for a much closer game than that. In fact, look for an upset: Tennessee has shown a chink in their armor; Xavier is red-hot right now. XAVIER 84, TENNESSEE 81
