Subject: 'The Coffee House Set'

I always liked this one. It was funny how Robbie quickly became entranced by the coffeehouse denizens- and ditched his Preppie threads for jeans, sweatshirt and sandals to fit in! The song 'Dodge City' he sang (written by Don Grady himself) was actually intellectually deep and had a moving tune- despite the episode's intentions of aping beatniks!
Don Grady has since revealed that not only did he write the song, he often did play his original compositions in beatnik clubs during the show's production!
I can't decide which was the funniest part- Bub's reverse psychology of having the whole family ape beatniks (with him in a longhair wig) or that girl dancing writhing gyrations to the tune of a mysterious sound that turned out to be . . .a slowly deflating balloon!
Tina Cole did a good job playing the girl who tried to permanently lure Robbie to [what passed for] the counterculture. Evidently, the producers liked her enough to have her back as Katie who a conventional wife who ironically sometimes had to deal with her husband's unconventional impulses!
