You know, I think there is one big point that I missed in my earlier post here. Cecille is on 'vacation' in California (from Boston), but what does she spend her days doing? Rearranging the Douglas furniture, telling Katie and all the family how to do things, reading and watching television. Either she couldn't afford to do much on a vacation, so that's why she manipulated the Douglases into getting free room and board, or she lives to try to set people "straight" (her idea of straight), and Katie was definitley right to dissuade her from staying there, as well as to have never even mentioned her before.

Also, if there is not some unspecified rift between her and Katie's family (her mother, aunt, and grandmother) hinted at, the writers could have just made her the sister of Katie's *father*, a family we know nothing about.
