Subject: hawaii these days

Wondering whether to plan a one way trip (for the boat!) south or whether to try to get back to the pacific northwest...no way back without an engine that doesn't involve hawaii and I've been hearing a lot that anchoring is a real hassle and moorage is expensive or unobtainable.

I was hoping some of the hawaii oar club folk could let me know what the real scoop was on spending a few weeks on the hook there for re-supplies and stretching the legs. Is there a 48 hour rule? What would be the best port of entry to enter engineless and the best place to re-provision and do some hiking?

thanks so much,

murray
