Yeah-- I understand that. But what I am talking about is significant reconstruction anyway. For example, once the engine is gone, creating a double bunk in the quarterbearth area. Re-doing the galley on the opposite side to include some of the area in the settee area. Re-designing the area from the main bulkhead to the bow as head/storage/workspace. THings like this... Certainly this is going to require lots of sawing and removals, and re-glassing. But if the boat starts as an aged hull I would expect to be putting in some serious sweat anyway. I am mostly wondering if anyone has actually done this, and what their design(s) considered and incorporated. I have NO experience in this-- my sailing currently consists of racing Solings and crewing on other people's crusiers. But when I am on these crusiers I am constantly blown away by what seems to me to be poorly concieved uses of space...particularly for someone actually LIVING on the boat...
