Yeah, we've done progressive. They are cheap and easy. And because they have a very limited number of boat manufacturers and engine types in their goofy online database, they basically force you to lie.

For e.g. Macha's hull was built by "The Cruising Boat Company." The agent we talked to a year ago to said there was no field to type that, or even just "Ingrid", so she entered it as "Cruzi", which I guess is some brand of powerboat or some shit? Anyways, we went to renew for the possible new marina and the new agent noticed it, but said it didn't matter. WTF? How can it not matter? How can an entire industry be based on calculating risks in the complete absence of information. They don't know if you've got a showboat or a rotting hulk and yet they're willing to guarantee who won't damage someone else's boat or person with it?

Actually, it makes you think about the financial shit we're in and all the mortgage companies that "helped" borrowers fill out application.

So while progressive is easy to get, might be hard to get a claim out of them. You can bet their attention to detail will get a little sharper when you run into something and it's their bucks on the line.

But for rubberstamp to get into a marina, they seem cheap and easy...
