Subject: Anchoring near Portland

I have a 23' Macgregor, on a trailer, I figured I would start out this way to learn to sail without a motor all cheap without moorage fees/haulout fees, etc.

Shortly after my truck died on me, and while financially able to afford another beater truck, started thinking about the alternatives.

If I could keep it anchored somewhere it would get used more, It really is a 2 man operation to get the mast up, with about 45 minutes of dicking around before and after the sailing. I could use it by myself if it were on the water. I'd still have the trailer and the occasional use of friends trucks to haul out for maintanence.

Any tips? I figure, with a 23 footer, I could put some way oversized ground tackle on.

Any advice, like how often I would realistically have to check on her, (she is a dry bilge boat, with no auto bilge pumps though) and locations/legality of leaving her at anchor.

Cheers, Dan
