When Eric moved to the piano songs in our sets, I began to play bass and felt just comfortable at first, then began to really enjoy that instrument and spot in the line up. Eric also wanted to play rhythm, so it was a
mutually enjoyable transition. I had always played rhythm, behind Wally, and did a great deal of the lead vocals in the early bands. As the band became a national act with Eric fronting and singing most of the tunes, our switch made sense and worked well, I felt. I became much more in tune with what Jim did on drums and that brought a new level of awareness of how a great rhythm section can drive a band. And I enjoyed that also.
