Got the CD a few weeks ago and it's a decent effort. First off, I have to agree 110% with Mike S. review of the CD. I'm not into the country thing either. Overall it's very good. My favorite song is - Sooner or Later -. I had the priviledged to hear the song performed by Dave's old band THE SECRET way back in '84. I will tell you this. NO-ONE PLAYS a STRONGER more Rip-shit guitar than Wally Bryson. I have to agree with Mike S. that the song Originally DID have a STRONG guitar sound and sung lead by Eric Robertson with Dave & Wally on backup. It was potentially SECRET'S anthem or swan song. The Best Song of any original I heard from them. It had more of the sound of a 38-Special kinda-vibe. A very danceable tune. The version on Dave's CD is very good. It's just softened up a bit. Mike's reference to the Eagles is very accurate in my Opinion. I also agree that the Piano should have been left off of the final mix. Too busy sounding. Shit, I must have rubbed elbow's with Mike because I too remember watching SECRET at all those Bars. Remember Peabody's Down Under (old pirates cove>. Probably, the best performance I remebered of Dave was at TOMMY'S Mesquite in ROCKEY RIVER in the Autumn '83. SECRET played an enore of Ike & Tina's . Now I know what everyone is thinking...how in the world could they pull that off. Well THEY DID, with Plenty of their own arrangements. Robertson, literally sang the PISS out of that song with UNBELIEVABLE back-up Vocal's by DAVE & WALLY. Okay, it was very BELIEVABLE. Dave's voice, and strong back-up vocals really made listening to SECRET very entertaining. You just had to have been there to appeciated it. Dave is a pro, for sure. I hope he playsout sometime. It would be great to hear him sing again. JT
