Paradise Beach

On the edge of the Island rests a secluded strip of shoreline. The sandy beach fades to windswept dune grass, and then to a succulent, thick carpet of green before being cut off from the rest of the island by jagged cliffs, pounded into formation in centuries past. The beach has two accesses, narrow strips of sand on opposite ends of the area, and at the highest tide you must swim across. The half-moon shaped meadow is decent sized, if only a small portion of the island, and free from most interferences. It is used for special events of the territory, and is currently being used as headquarters of the Fillies-In-Training tournament.

Right now, DOL and I (Ashley) are just observing the fillies and getting a feel for their personalities. After the first cut, DOL will start taking groups of them at a time (because it'd be a major pain to wait for X number of foals every time DOL does something) to various places. She'll ask questions occasionally, but mostly she is going to introduce them to the position of Queen and what it entails. Occasionally she will secretly arrange for an outside source to come to PI and then the fillies can respond to that. As they travel about, DOL will give instruction, tips, and advice on the position. She will treat each of them as if that filly is the next queen, and she will probably give advice on how they can improve their chances for being picked. I expect it to be a reasonably long process for the last few fillies, and any fillies that become mares during this time may still participate. In fact, the final filly will not become Queen until she is a mare, but will stay with DOL as her "assistant."

Seven to leave, and seven to stay,
One to be given a second chance.
Heed my words, for this I say:
A queen must hold time in her hooves,
But must respect the bell's toll.
She must be worthy of admiration,
Willing to dance the floor of politics.
She must always find the silver lining,
Even when she swore she had seen it before.
And when the sun crests the eastern horizon,
It must find her as sweet to her own
As the stars that smile upon night.
Fillies, you may ask who is chosen,
But I tell you: you have been told.
