Subject: A boy in the girls' bathroom

The nap the youthful colt had taken between his father's feet had refreshed him, and now he bounded forward with renewed energy. He had last seen his mother come this way, and as all newborns do, he yearned to be by her side. With a wild, awkward gallop, he springs across the beach, stopping suddenly. Everything now around him was entirely new, and for a moment he was overwhelmed with unusual senses. He slowly sorted them out, deciphering each as it came. The ocean was the source of the salty smell and the dry wind, as well as the home to the noisy birds flying above and occasionally floating on the surface. But what was the ocean? He stepped onto it, squealing in surprised at the sensation wet. Before long, however, the roan colt was back in the water, trotting about with great glee. He jumped a few times through the water, his high-pitched bell laugh sounding each time the waves splashed his belly. Abruptly he notices the other horses standing along the beach, and his playing stops just as quickly. He trots jauntily over to the nearest and announces, "My name is Phoenix!", the only phrase he was sure of. Other words were tumbling around in his mind, and he fought furiously to construct another sentence. After a moment of struggle, he bursts out with a second phrase. "Who are you?"
