Subject: there's something about the way we cry

150 years ago, the city of New Mayhem was ravaged with a war. But it was no ordinary war. Thousands of people died, and the vampire population boomed as they feasted on the dead flesh of the humans.

But there was another problem.

While the vampires had been growing stronger, a new breed had awoken. They were later dubbed the 'Immortals', because the vampire soon found out that they could not harm them with any weapon. The only way they could be killed was by magic. And not ordinary magic, either.

When each immortal was created, they agreed with a witch or warlock that they could, in fact, be killed. One of the most famous immortals, Saphrax, was killed after years of battle. No one could figure out his weakness, and even after torturing him without any effect, he would never tell. And then, just before the vampires lost all hope, they stumbled upon the grave of Saphrax's first and only child, Demeter. Just glancing upon the grave made him age, and within seconds, he was a mere pile of dust on the floor. A victory for the vampires.

Yet war pressed on. The death of the immortal's leader made them fight even stronger and better than before, and soon the vampires were falling mercy to them. The vampires were fairly easy to kill, so long as the immortals stabbed them with a knife tainted by a witch. Only then would the vampires fall.

After the most powerful of the vampire species were destroyed, the remaining vampires fleed. The immortals took over New Mayhem and changed it too match their needs. as the years passed, however, the immortals became sick of life. Why would they live when everything was so picture perfect? So then, they started commiting suicide. The remaining hid, as if hibernating until life stirred once more. They have yet to awaken.

And then, the vampires returned. They came in fleets to find - nothing. They were disgusted that the immortals would deceive them and just die, so they left once more. But they left few commoners to run the land. The land was almost perfect, and they shaped it to their own needs, as it was many a year ago. But deep below the city, the immortals stirred with the presence that lurked in their home. A hundred years later, they awoke to continue the legacy.
