Welcome to Erd�r, The Lonely Land. Erd�r was once called Middle Earth. It was beautiful beyond belief, but it also had many dangers. There were orcs and other foul creatures born everyday to kill and destroy all who were not like them. Thanks to the Men and the Elves, their evil was held back. While they did kill many, the majority of Middle Earth's people were saved.
But Middle Earth took on a great change. The Dark Lord, Sauron, forged a great many rings. Nine were given to the Men, and they soon fell under his power and became the Nazgul, servants of Sauron. Seven were given to the Dwarves, and some were lost, while some fell back into Sauron's power. Three rings were made by the Elves for their people and given to some of the greatest elvish lords. The Elvish rings were hidden from Sauron and never discovered. But there was another ring...forged in secret by the Dark Lord himself. The One Ring caused great destruction until finally it fell into the hands of a famous hobbit, Frodo Baggins on the Shire. He was forced to make a journey that he would never forget, and it was possible he would die.
Yet he accepted this quest and in Rivendell, was appointed eight companions to help him along the way. There was Gandalf the Grey, one of the Istari. Aragorn, or Strider, who had helped the hobbits through the wilderness, vowed to protect Frodo under all circumstances. Legolas, Prince of Mirkwood, pledged his bow to Frodo's service. Gimli, son of Gloin, went along to represent the dwarves in this massive quest. Boromir, son of the Ruling Steward, Denethor II, came along, hoping to fulfill a prophecy he heard in a dream. Samwise Gamgee, Frodo's gardener, would not abandon his master after all this time and was allowed to go along. Last, but not least, Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck, Frodo's cousins, begged to go along at the last minute. And so the Fellowship was born.
During this journey, they encountered many troubles. In Moria, they lost Gandalf to the Balrog, only to be found by Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli, in Fangorn Forest much later. Boromir was killed by the Uruk-hai warrior, Lurtz, after trying unsuccessfully to take the Ring from Frodo. Frodo and Sam set out on their own, while Pippin & Merry were captured by Uruk-hai. Aragorn, Legolas, & Gimli had no choice but to rescue Pippin & Merry. All this led to the War of the Ring, where Sauron was at last defeated and the One Ring destroyed. All who participated in the battle became heroes. Aragorn reclaimed the throne of Gondor and became King Elessar, as well as marrying Arwen Undomiel, the Evenstar. The time of the Elves had passed, and so many of them set out for the Grey Havens, taking much of Middle Earth's beauty with them. And so Erd�r came into being, a land lonely without the unsurpassed beauty the Elves held within their very being.
