Suggest Changes to Hunting, Freshwater Fishing Rules
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission welcomes your suggested changes to our hunting and freshwater fishing regulations.

A new, online process
Historically, we have solicited suggestions every other year. This year marks the start of a new approach: we will accept recommendations online, and starting in February 2010, we will accept them year-round. Staff will review the recommended changes and present staff-supported recommendations to Commissioners on an annual basis as appropriate.

Due to budget concerns, we will no longer send personal letters to solicit input. Instead we will gather suggestions electronically via the Internet. We believe this will provide the public and stakeholders with better access to our rule-making activities. If you cannot submit via the Internet, you can still submit proposals in writing. Contact any regional office, and we will mail a form to you.

About your suggestions...
Please note that regulation changes resulting from this process will not become effective until July 2010. Changes to hunting regulations will be published in the public hunting area brochures well in advance of the 2010-11 seasons.

We ask you to consider carefully your ideas, complete the online form for each proposed change and submit it by March 30, 2009. We recognize that some of you speak on behalf of clubs or organizations that may strongly support some changes and that you wish to express the level of support your organization has for those changes. You may do so simply by stating that fact on the form. It is not necessary for every member to send in a copy of the same proposal.

Hunting or freshwater fishing only, please
Please do not suggest changes to statutes or license fees or changes to regulations on saltwater fishing, endangered species or other programs of the Commission at this time.

If you have any questions about the FWC's rule-making process, contact David Arnold, Rules Administrator, by e-mail or call 850-488-8871.

How to submit your proposal
Please click on our online submittal form. We request that each form address only one idea or change. Tell us as much as you can about your proposal and why your idea will make hunting or freshwater fishing better or how it will improve the condition of our freshwater fish and wildlife resources.

Staff will evaluate each proposal against a set of criteria. Staff will submit supported proposals to Commissioners for consideration at their September and December 2009 meetings and for final approval in February 2010.

If you have any questions about the form, send an e-mail to RuleChanges@MyFWC.com.

If you cannot submit the form online, please contact any regional office, and we will mail a form to you.
