Michael shifted the papers around and rubbed his hands through his hair. He didn’t understand how much paperwork could be accumulated about the house construction while he was on his honeymoon. He was thankful that he wasn’t taking care of the camp items at this time. Madeline had decided to take back some of the work on the books.

“Did some of my stuff get mixed in with yours?” Madeline inquired with a wince as she entered. She had tried to make sure that nothing got mixed up while Michael was away but she feared that she had.

“No,” Michael shook his head from side to side. “Just a lot to get thru… and I want to be out there for when the girls start arriving.”

“You can’t try to do it all in one day,” Madeline wisely spoke as she sat down. “Are you sure that I didn’t get anything mixed up. I brought in Jake a few days and I may have gotten sidetracked.”

“Madeline, it’s fine,” Michael spoke as he shook his head lightly from side to side. “I just really wish the house would get done. Nikita and I are going over after dinner to see if enough is done for us to start moving in. Maybe if the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom are done… we can move.”

“Can’t take being that close to Walter?” Madeline quipped and Michael shook his head. He leaned forward as he took in his sister. He wasn’t sure he was going to say anything, but out of all the people he could talk to, Michael saw Madeline as someone he could talk to about what he was worried about. “We are trying to begin our family, Madeline.”

“Already?” Madeline was shocked. She thought that Michael and Nikita were going to have a family quickly, but she didn’t think that they would be trying right off the bat. “Don’t you want to be married for a while?”

“I want a family with Nikita,” Michael spoke as he softened gently. Just the thought did something inside of him.

Madeline was jealous. She never felt like Michael obviously did. She was pregnant before she knew that she truly wanted to have a family. “A family is a wonderful thing to want to have. It changed my life, Michael.”

“Nikita already changed my life,” Michael spoke as he folded his hands. “But I worry about what if it doesn’t happen right away.”

“It probably won’t,” Madeline smirked and Michael dropped his head. “Michael… most often it doesn’t happen right away.”

“I know that. I think on some level Nikita knows that,” Michael drifted off as he turned his head away from Madeline. Madeline rubbed forehead with her long fingers. “But Nikita isn’t thinking logically about this.”

“No,” Michael admitted as he lifted his head and rolled his shoulders. “And in ways… I didn’t want to correct her… I wanted to feed into that… intensity that occurs when you hear…”

Madeline could only imagine what the two of them said about making a baby while they were in the moment. Madeline rubbed her head. “You are very worried about this.”

Michael nodded his head up and down. “Davenport said that Nikita’s surgery shouldn’t have anything to do with her getting pregnant… but I worry about that condition making it harder for her… and Nikita will be so hard on herself.”

Madeline leaned back with a heavy sigh. “Moving into the house too soon won’t change Nikita’s reaction, Michael. Using the house as a distraction will not make this go away.”

“I know,” Michael rolled his head around slowly. “I’ll handle this, Madeline.”

“Maybe it won’t be an issue,” Madeline smiled gently as she shrugged her shoulders. “Nikita may already be pregnant.”

“I hope so… I really hope so,” Michael rasped and Madeline held her words. Something told her that Michael wouldn’t mind some time just being married to Nikita.
