“Nikita!” shouted both Walter and Jason as they saw the name the same time that Michael saw it. Michael stood there, staring at the name, feeling his heart tremble.

But somehow, he had already known before he had even gotten access to the Section information.

The two men continue to quickly talk back and forth, both excited that Michael had gotten the search done and what was going to be the next thing to do. Michael was excited too, but there was a lot of information that neither man knew at this point and a lot that Michael still did not know.

“Go get her, Michael,” Walter commanded and finally Jason stopped talking too. It was a moment and Walter asked, “Are you still there Michael?”

“We need to meet and discuss this in person,” Michael gently whispered as he eased onto his stool and continued to stare at the name. His mind was being flooded with so many thoughts and everything was telling him that if he rushed to Nikita’s side right this moment that she would simply run.

“Talk about this? Don’t tell me that you were testing samples and you don’t know where the person is that belongs to the samples?” Walter complained instantly. Michael closed his eyes. Walter loved Nikita so much and it was clear that Walter could be tempted to just go right to Nikita without listening to him.

“You don’t know what happened in the end to Section One, Walter. Rushing to get Nikita may not be a strategic thing to do without talking about some things that I know about where I got the samples from,” Michael explained and he closed his eyes as both men exclaimed that he had more than one sample. “I can’t do this over the phone, Jason and Walter. I have to get Adam out of the house and then we have to have a serious conversation.”

Jason started to protest and Michael found himself touching his fingers to Nikita’s name on the screen. He was grateful that it didn’t pull a picture up of her. He saw her in his sleep every time he closed his eyes.

“Jason, let’s do as Michael wants,” Walter relented with a gentle voice. “But I want answers, Michael.”

“I can’t give answers over the phone,” Michael commented as he pulled his hand away from the screen. He wanted to get off of the phone and call the Lieutenant. He needed to know more about Mary before Walter and Jason showed up.

“Your phone is secure. Don’t think I would have gotten on the phone if either of your phones had security flaws,” Jason snapped. Michael stayed silent. Jason knew exactly what Michael meant. It wasn’t about the security of his phone line.

“Nine o’clock,” Walter declared and Michael nodded his head up and down. “Adam will be in school before then. I’ll drive him to make sure that he goes…”

“He will be excited, Michael,” Walter added and Michael swallowed hard. If Adam found out, he would not stop until Michael went to Nikita, no matter how much Michael felt that she would run. He would find a way to make Michael go right away and not wait.

Hell, Adam would go himself.

“I’ll have coffee waiting,” Michael spoke as he disconnected the computer, although his eyes could continue to see Nikita’s name on the screen even after it had turned off. He then closed the phone, his mind still processing what was going on.

He should be over the moon. Nikita was alive and he had evidential proof that she was alive. As long as she didn’t put fake information into the copy of the databases that she had given Jason.

But it almost seemed so simple.

Then Michael thought about the Nikita he knew and it all started to make sense.

Adam was right, the angel was one person. Once Michael saw Nikita’s name on the screen, he knew that it was possible for Nikita to do all the things that had been contributed to the angel. It was probably her way of paying the universe back for the bad things that she thought she did. Michael also realized that she wouldn’t just stop since she had started being this angel. She would go and go on doing these deeds. She probably felt that she had to repay the universe for the rest of her life.

He needed to know more about Mary. At first it didn’t seem right. But his mind knew how Nikita handled things and he heard about the things that she was forced to handle after he left. That would leave some huge emotional scars on the woman that he loved.

So maybe it made sense that Mary wasn’t talking.

Michael didn’t leave his stool. He placed his head down on the desk and felt the tears trickling from his eyes. He may have found Nikita, but how far away was she truly.
