Adam looked around the room and saw Reagan with Sabina asleep in her arms. Adam sighed and walked over to her. “I’ll help finish up here… and I’ll walk over.”

“Adam…” Reagan spoke and Adam laughed. “Look… I had to do recon on Walter’s cabin a while back… I know how to get there in the dark. I have a flashlight and I’ll be fine. Sabina is out cold… and I don’t want to be the one to wake her.”

Mick was right behind Reagan and leaned down to her ear, opposite of Sabina. “Both Michael and Nikita told us to trust him and to cut him a break.”

Reagan may have protested more if Sabina wasn’t so boneless in her arms. “Adam so help me if you are scamming me…”

“No one wants to wake up tomorrow to clean this place up before that church that burnt down has to use it for services… and Walter is going to stay here and do it himself if I don’t stay,” Adam explained and Reagan nodded her head. “You should walk back with Walter then.”

“I was planning that,” Adam rolled his eyes and Reagan looked at Mick and stood up. “I trust you, Adam. Don’t make me regret it.”

“I can’t do anything about it,” Mick shrugged his shoulders and he looked around. “But I know others who can.”

Adam shook his head slightly and sent back to picking up the empty plastic glasses that were everywhere. He didn’t know how they got so many of them and soon had filled a bag. He continued to fill bag after bag, stopping to take each one out. There were others helping but Adam just continued onto his task. He rolled his head back as he picked up the current bag. It was almost too full. He took it out the back door and when he was coming back in Adam ran right into Lisa.

Taking his arms to help steady Lisa Adam groaned. “I’m sorry.”

“No… I was moving too fast and I knew that you were out here,” Lisa shook her head as she placed the bag down and tilted her head to the side. “I wanted to run into you… just not literally.”

“We’ve seen each other all day,” Adam commented as he picked up the bag at Lisa’s feet and took it outside. He returned to see Lisa standing there. “What is this about?”

“I know what happened between you and Gretchen,” Lisa admitted as she looked at her hands. She slowly looked up at Adam. “I didn’t want to say anything about it while we were all celebrating.”

“Thank you,” Adam rasped and shrugged his shoulders. “It was going to happen. Just bad timing.”

Adam watched as Lisa nodded her head up. He narrowed his eyes. “How did you find out?”

“Gretchen called me,” Lisa answered as she leaned back against the wall as there wasn’t that much cleaning left to be done as Walter was actually putting chairs up for the church to use.

Adam thought about what Lisa had said and blinked his eyes. “Wow… I’m surprised that she did… she acted so jealous…”

“She didn’t call as a friend,” Lisa replied with a slight shrug of her shoulders. “She called me a lot of names… was sure that I caused this happen… that we were already doing things and that we were making a fool out of her…”

Adam‘s jaw tensed as he thought about the things that Gretchen had wrongly accused Lisa of doing. Adam didn’t care if she said those things about him, but it was wrong to say them of Lisa. Lisa looked down to her feet. “She wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to explain that I’m just your friend…”

Reaching out, Adam touched her arm much like he had while they were dancing. But Lisa looked at him and blinked back tears. “I know that she wasn’t a true friend if she could think these things of me… and because she let a boy get between us… but it doesn’t stop me from being sad that I was so wrong.”

Compassionately, Adam stroked her cheek. “Maybe for a bit… we should just steer clear of doing the friend things in public…I’m surely not ready to go back out into the dating pool… but there is no reason if Gretchen is misinterpreting our friendship to taunt her by doing too many things in public.”

“We can still hike, right?” Lisa inquired and Adam laughed. “Do you think we’d run into Gretchen hiking?”

“No,” Lisa shook her head back and forth. “And I did just get that mountain bike.”

“You? A mountain bike?” Adam’s eyes twinkled with happiness. “I like the sound of that.”

“Rhoda didn’t like it,” Lisa stated and Adam laughed happily. “I can’t imagine why.”

“Hey Adam… I’m going into the kitchen to make sure that all the food is put away. Why don’t you walk Lisa back to the Schneider Cabin… its right across…” Walter started and Adam turned before Walter gave further directions. Walter rolled his eyes and tossed his hand towards Adam, knowing full well that Adam knew where Lisa was staying. It was practically right across the road.

“Come on,” Adam tossed his head to the side as he started towards the front door. Lisa followed and Adam stepped out into the cool air and was glad to see that Lisa had grabbed her coat. “So… it was Gretchen’s conversation that had you a bit off today… that’s good to know.”

Lisa stopped in her tracks which in turn caused Adam to stop. “Lisa?”

She twisted her hands together and turned her head back towards the porch they were just on. “Ah… not only that.”

“What?” Adam cut the distance between himself and Lisa. “What is it, Lisa?”

She swallowed hard as she looked at her best friend, knowing that now that things had ended with Gretchen, that she could worry Adam about something about her. She didn’t want to tell Adam earlier. “I’ve just had a few nightmares, Adam… nothing big –“

“Have you talked to Rhoda about them?” Adam immediately stopped Lisa’s words. Lisa pressed her lips together and shook her head slightly for side to side. She saw the flash of anger in Adam’s eyes. “She has been so busy with Eric and I didn’t want to bother her or Nat about them.”

Adam couldn’t help himself. He grabbed Lisa’s arms. “Then why didn’t you tell me?”

Lisa swallowed as she wearily smiled. “You were dealing with Gretchen… trying to make it work… I wanted it to work for you.”

“Shit, Lisa,” Adam dropped his arms. “Was it about that night?”

Lisa nodded her head up and down. “Dreams of those men… killing my foster parents… if I have one in a night… I have them all night long…”

“You should have told someone. You could have gone and talked to Beatrice. Or Ellie. Or Reagan… someone, Lisa,” Adam pleaded and she rubbed her elbows. “It hasn’t been every night, Adam.”

“One night is too many,” Adam declared and Lisa shook her head. “They are dreams. They bothered me. But I know that they are dreams.”

Adam started to walk and soon they were in front of the cabin that Lisa’s family was staying in. Adam stood in front of Lisa. “Rhoda and Nat love you, Lisa. You are their daughter. And although they may have been tied up with Eric Logan, they would do anything for you. Like find the time you need. You just have to tell them that you need the time.”

Adam brushed his hand against Lisa’ cheek and walked back towards the hall, praying that Lisa would go in and tell her parents. She needed too.
