Captain Aleshia stood on the other side of the solid oak door and smiled after Michael opened the door while tying his robe around his waist. She had told the chef, an older gentleman named Clement that she would take this first dinner to the newlyweds. She had a good sense that the lunch that had been prepared and ready for them, had not really be tended to and made sure that Clement had adjusted his meal appropriately.

“Chef Clement was going to deliver, but I wasn’t sure who would answer the door,” Aleshia explained as she showed the cart to the side and Michael grinned. “I am glad that it is you, Captain.”

“It’s Aleshia, please,” Aleshia replied as she exhaled. “I can wait a bit.”

“Just a few minutes, please,” Michael commented as he stepped back, with a slight blush crossing his face. The Captain didn’t need to know what was going on in the room, but she simply knew that these newlyweds were very much in love. The boat was quiet so she would never know for sure what was happening and Captain Aleshia was relieved to know that.

The door opened and Michael stepped back, now wearing black pajama bottoms and a light gray t-shirt. The robe was gone and probably behind the door that led to the main bedroom area of the suite. “Nikita is taking a shower to refresh,” Michael explained as he closed the door and watched as Aleshia pushed the cart towards the clear table that was for these meals. “I didn’t think you’d want a full setup tonight, Mr. Pomeroy.”

Michael chuckled. “You are right. Casual is fine… probably for the entire trip. And if I am to call you Aleshia, Captain, you need to call me Michael and Nikita is Nikita.”

“Of course,” Aleshia nodded her head as she lifted the salad onto the table. “The Chef Clement wanted to know more about likes and dislikes… I took the lead off of the fact that you wanted a chef who understood Creole and Cajun cuisine. The salad is basic… he added some pecans and blue cheese.”

Michael walked to the cart and pulled up the ice bucket and the champagne that was in the ice. “I’m more concerned about the main course.”

At that point, Aleshia could even hear Michael’s stomach growl. She turned slightly red and swallowed. She would have liked to explain the meal with Nikita present so she could be sure that it was perfect for them tonight. “If anything is wrong, we can easily make something else. The entire trip. Whatever you and Nikita desire.”

“It smells good, whatever it is,” Michael looked at the covered dishes. Aleshia nodded her head and opened it slightly so Michael could peak in before she covered it back up to make sure that it stayed warm. “That is a Creole pan-fried flat iron steak, heavier on the hot pepper sauce… along with pecan crusted shrimp with a Creole sauce. There is also maquechoux, without any crawfish. Chef Clement wants to make that again with the crayfish but he wanted to be sure that both of you want crayfish.”

Michael smirked. “It’s perfect… and both of us like all types of seafood. We are adventurous.”

Aleshia cleared her throat and stood up to place the silverware on the table and swallowed. “I was going to put the dessert up in the galley directly upstairs. It’s your space so no one will be in that area. It’s a banana foster ice cream with bits of beignets in it. It’s the reason why I hired Chef Clement.”

“As long as there is plenty of whipped cream – in a can, preferably,” Michael whispered as he plucked the two champagne glasses out of Aleshia’s hands. She again felt a hot blush cross her face. She normally did not react in this manner and was very thankful that she had not arranged for any of her other captains to take on this trip. “Well… I’ll ensure that while you have dinner.”

“Thank you,” Michael whispered as he turned away as if he knew she was deeply embarrassed. Nikita stepped out with her hair up in a towel wearing a matching outfit of black pajama bottoms and a gray tank top. “I had to hurry… it smelled so good… and my stomach probably could have been heard out here.”

“Completely soundproof,” Aleshia spilt and looked to the side. “We will be out to sea again tomorrow unless you want us to make a change to the itinerary.”

“Sea sounds perfect,” Michael looked at Nikita as he tipped his head to Nikita. It was Nikita’s turn to blush.

“I’ll leave you for now. Please ring if you need anything at all… at any time.”

“We wouldn’t bother you during the night” Nikita shook her head as Michael took the towel and expertly popped the champagne. Nikita had gotten the glass from Michael’s hand before he had the bottle and Aleshia knew that she had to get out of this room. “It’s my job to be available… and my staff. Even if you aren’t going to take advantage of it, we’ll be available at any time.”

“Thank you again, Aleshia. Tell Chef Clement that he outdid himself,” Michael spoke and Nita stopped with happiness in her eyes. “Our chef is named Clement? That has to be why I smell such a perfect mix of spicy and sweet.”

“Creole and Cajun,” Michael nodded his head as he took Nikita’s glass and filled it with some champagne. “I know my wife.”

“I’m glad that my husband knows me,” Nikita rasped as she stepped closer to Michael. Aleshia slipped out the door and closed it behind her. She was stunned with the raw emotions that flowed between the couple and she blinked her eyes while going back to the staff area of the boat.

“Captain, did you get the information on what they want for breakfast tomorrow?” Clement called out from a table where he was feeding the staff the steak and shrimp he said were not perfect enough to serve.

“They want…. Brunch… a very late brunch,” Aleshia shook her head as she grabbed a bottle of water, noting that they were all laughing at her. She looked at Clement as he was pouting. She walked over and plucked a shrimp off of his plate and licked her lips while finishing the spicy food. “Clement… they are newlyweds… maybe in a couple days you’ll have a chance to get a better idea of their food… for now, I just want to make sure that they don’t go too long without real nutrition while they celebrate.”

“Boo-chicca-wow-wow…” Clement commented as he swung his hips, getting everyone to laugh.

Even Aleshia allowed a small grin.

She moved to the refrigerator and Clement turned. “Why aren’t you going to eat, Captain?”

“I have to make sure that there is whipped cream with their dessert.”

“That dessert needs no whipped cream!” Clement exclaimed defensively. “They haven’t even tried it yet.”

Aleshia pulled out the whipped cream can and held it in her hands while turning to look at the Chef. “Do you truly think that this can has anything to do with your ice cream?”
