Michael walked into the kitchen and then stopped as he saw Nikita at the table. He felt instantly guilty for making love to her last night since Sabina was staying up with Walter at the cabin for a couple days since Adam had went to camp. Michael was almost sure that it was also Walter’s way of trying to help out the newlyweds and they both took advantage of the empty house and their time alone.

But Nikita was about to drop her head into the coffee cup that was in front of her.

Michael stepped up and placed his hands on Nikita’s shoulders, bringing her to a startled awaken mode. Nikita jumped and Michael rubbed at her shoulders. “I didn’t want you to spill your coffee.”

Nikita looked up at Michael and forced a smile. “Thanks… I’m not quite awake.”

“I can tell,” Michael kissed her forehead and eased away. “You should have slept in some.”

“I got to get to the studio,” Nikita frowned as she looked towards her phone and then back to Michael. “There is a reason why I didn’t want interns… and having them be unreliable during the summer because their family is suddenly taking a couple extra days away is one of the reasons.”

Michael grabbed a cup of coffee and as he turned he saw Nikita rubbing her forehead. “Headache too?”

“Yeah,” Nikita admitted as she nodded her head, pushing her cup away. “It’s just stress.”

“I thought we were working on that stress last night,” Michael indicated as he watched a small smile cross Nikita’s face. She turned her head away and then shook it slightly, clearly not willing to touch that comment with a witty comeback. Michael moved to the refrigerator and looked in. “How about I make you some French toast before you go to the studio? When was the last time the both of us had breakfast together?”

Nikita groaned as she stood up. She swung her head from side to side. “I’m not really hungry, Michael.”

“Kita,” Michael whispered and she looked him with weary eyes. “I often have cereal with Sabina… and today… I just am not that hungry… but remember we ate kind of late last night.”

Michael laughed and nodded his head. After practically skipping dinner when they realized that there was no one home, they had ended up heating up some pasta and eating it in bed. “Ok… we did eat rather late.”

Michael closed the door to the refrigerator and wrapped his arms around his wife. “I’m worried… you look pale, Kita.”

“Stress,” Nikita rolled her eyes as she leaned back into Michael’s arms. “I’ll try to get home on time.”

“Early?” Michael questioned and Nikita turned with a frown. “You haven’t been getting home on time either, Michael.”

“I don’t have a headache and I don’t look like I need several more hours of sleep,” Michael pointed out as he touched his finger against Nikita’s nose. “I’ll get home on time.”

Nikita studied him and groaned. “But you are working on something important.”

“I’m not going to drag you into it, Kita. You have enough on your plate.”

“I haven’t even had time to think of Angel stuff… I think Jason has done a couple things,” Nikita spoke and Michael nodded his head. He was grateful that in the process of his investigation that Jason had come up on a few illegal activities on line that he was able to alert the authorities to as the Angel.

But Michael knew that everyone had agreed that it was time to put the Angel further and further away from their everyday life, especially after what had happened. “We don’t need to be her any longer, Kita.”

“There will always be a need for her,” Nikita whispered and Michael swallowed back his statement hard. If he fought Nikita about this, she would find something to do as the Angel today to prove that the Angel was necessary.

“For now, let’s both get home… so maybe you can go to sleep early,” Michael brushed his hand against Nikita’s forehead. She pushed his hand way. “Tonight is the last night we are alone. Reagan is bringing Sabina home tomorrow.”

“Walter would let them stay another night,” Michael pointed out and Nikita swung her head from side to side. “I don’t want her to think that she gets to spend the entire summer away… and Reagan has to come back to spend time with Mick.”

“Kita… Mick is probably up there already,” Michael rolled his eyes and Nikita chuckled. “Yeah… probably… but I want my daughter home too.”

Michael studied Nikita and touched her face again. “If you look like this tonight… I’m not going to touch you.”

“What?” Nikita exclaimed as she pulled away. “Isn’t that extreme?”

“Well, we won’t do extra activities,” Michael indicated and Nikita knew that he was promising that. “I’ll get a nap. I swear.”
