“I don’t like your girlfriend, Adam!” Sabina screamed as she stomped her foot. “I don’t like her one bit.”

“Just because we don’t want you to come along to the movie?” Adam asked as he shook his head back and forth. “You aren’t even old enough to see this movie.”

“Then why are you going to get to see it?” Sabina fired back as she narrowed her eyes. “She doesn’t even know you, Adam.”

“Sabina, I’m sorry that I’m changing our plans. But Gretchen was with her family all thru break and we go back to school tomorrow. I need to spend time with her,” Adam remained calm as he was getting frustrated with Sabina right now. He had spent a lot of time with her and it wasn’t that Adam didn’t like it – but he was tired of it.

“But she came over last night,” Sabina wined as she leaned her head back. “And she gave you that shirt that you don’t like but you pretended that you liked it and she gave you that stupid laptop cover that isn’t even the right size for your laptop and you acted like it was the best thing in the world and it was the best Christmas gift….”

“What’s going on?” Nikita asked as she walked into the living room. Sabina turned and frowned. “I don’t like Adam’s girlfriend. She doesn’t get him gifts that he wants like Lisa did and now they aren’t going to take me to the movies because she doesn’t want me to go along.”

“That’s not right,” Adam tensely spoke as he looked at Nikita for some help. “Gretchen already saw the cartoon with her younger cousins… the movie she wants to see is PG-13.”

Nikita bent down to Sabina. “It sounds like there has been a change in plans, Sabina. You are going to have to go with the flow with this change.”

“He is lying,” Sabina shook her head. “They probably aren’t even going to the movies.”

“What?” Adam exclaimed as he shook his head. “Sabina… I’m going to the movies with Gretchen. What is there to lie about?”

Michael entered the room but didn’t speak. He leaned against the doorframe and saw how focused Nikita was right now to stop this situation even though she was exhausted.

“You lied about kissing Lisa,” Sabina placed her hands on her hips. Nikita touched her daughter’s shoulders. “Sabina… Adam is going to the movies.”

Seeing that she wasn’t going to get her mother to stop him, Sabina saw her father that she had seen come in the room. “He is probably going to go to Gretchen’s house and have sex with her. And he’ll say that he isn’t doing that… just like he said that he didn’t kiss Lisa… like I didn’t see him kiss Lisa on the back porch…”

“Hallway,” Michael directed Adam before his son exploded. Michael looked at Nikita to indicate that he would take care of Adam as she was already working with Sabina on this. Nikita sat down on the floor and pulled Sabina down in front of her. “You can’t say things like that because you are upset, Sabina.”

“I’m not upset. I’m mad,” Sabina crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes at her mother. “And he lied!”

“Adam said that he may take you to the movies today…”

“He lied about Lisa,” Sabina pointed out and Nikita exhaled. “Adam is in charge of his own personal life, Sabina.”

“So if dad was kissing another woman… like Reagan…”

“Never would happen,” Nikita declared and Sabina continued to stare at her mother. “But if he did…”

“It’s different, Sabina. And you aren’t sure what you have seen with Adam and Lisa… and that was a while ago.”

“But I don’t know why he is with Gretchen. Lisa is more fun,” Sabina shook her head back and forth and slapped her hands to the carpet.

“It’s up to Adam who he dates. You are too young to understand…”

“I understand,” Sabina huffed as she stood up. “Gretchen is Team Jacob…. And Adam deserves Lisa…. Because Lisa is Team Edward… and Adam belongs with Team Edward. Always Edward!”

Nikita was lost and her daughter was out of the room, storming upstairs. Nikita sat there and leaned back on her hands trying to figure out what Sabina was talking about.

Michael walked into the room a while later and sat down next to Nikita. “Adam is not sleeping with Gretchen.”

“Good. He is too young,” Nikita declared and then she looked at Michael. “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Michael nodded his head up and down. Nikita frowned. “I was a good liar when I was his age… and you taught him well, Michael. Would you be able to tell?”

Michael rubbed his hair out of his eyes and looked at Nikita. “I feel comfortable about what Adam is telling me… because it’s Gretchen.”

“Meaning?” Nikita inquired.

“I… I don’t feel it between them when they are together… they aren’t as natural…”

Nikita blinked her eyes and shook her head. “But if Sabina had said Adam was sleeping with Lisa… you think that Adam could lie to you about that.”

Michael slowly started to nod his head up and down. “Yes. And I… I might not be able to tell if he is lying… if it was…”

Nikita swallowed and rubbed her face. “Sabina wasn’t upset about not going to the movies… I don’t even think this was about Gretchen. She is upset that she has to go back to school tomorrow.”

Michael looked at Nikita and she leaned into his arms. “I didn’t get enough time with her… I’ve lost the past day… no… the past two days…”

Michael shook his head back and forth. “Kita… you can’t worry about that… and Sabina has to find a better way to be upset about going back to school.” Michael paused and cleared his throat. “I heard her stomp upstairs. I take it that you didn’t resolve what she was saying.”

“She said something about Adam needing to be on Team Edward… and that Gretchen was Team Jacob… Are there teams at school, Michael?” Nikita asked as she sat up and looked at Michael. Michael blinked his eyes and shook his head. “What? Team who?”

“I’m pretty sure that she said Team Edward… is this an internet thing?” Nikita asked and Michael sighed. “We’ll figure it out…”
