The cool breeze coming in from the slightly cracked window was cutting the humid air down in the room. Their bodies were hot as they were sticky against each other. A bath or a shower was needed, but both of them were still trying to catch their breath.
Until the Brady Bunch theme song started to ring loudly from the phone beside the bed.
“What the hell is that?” Daisy inquired as she yanked the sheet that Jason had pulled abruptly off of her naked body as he grabbed for the phone. She wrapped the sheet around her body as Jason thumbed quickly thru the phone. “Yes!”
“Jason?” Daisy asked again as he stood up and found his jeans, forgoing the underwear that were on the other side of the room.
“I have to see the results,” Jason spoke as he walked out of the room. Daisy sat on the bed in disbelief, her mouth dropped open and her mind trying to figure out what had just happened. She had plans for what else was supposed to happen this afternoon and it surely didn’t include Jason walking out of the room and probably to his office.
Jason rushed to logon and then started to open up the multiple systems. He had been allowing this process run for days and he had only set up the ring to play if something positive was coming out of the results. He wasn’t about to get ahead of himself until he actually saw with his own eyes what was found.
It could be absolutely nothing.
Daisy had found Jason’s shirt and she leaned against the door frame. “You didn’t seem to be the kind who goes to bed with a lady and then rush out… We weren’t done in my book…”
Jason blinked his eyes as he continued to type. He looked over at Daisy and groan. “This is really important, Daisy.”
“You were doing work while we…”
“No,” Jason shook his head quickly. “This has been running for days now… and it could help out Michael and-“
“Nikita,” Daisy finished as she sighed and moved over to Jason. “I don’t see anything.”
Jason chuckled as he looked back at the screen. “That’s because you aren’t trained in this.”
“And this is supposed to find Michael’s and Nikita’s daughter?”
“Well, we are trying to track down four guys who may know where to start… but they have basically gone off the grid… and I found this file that may have the one man in it… which means he might be on the grid… a lead.”
“One out of four?” Daisy asked and Jason sighed. “Unfortunately, yes.”
Daisy stepped back and pulled a chair from the corner but didn’t pull it too close. She watched the intensity in Jason’s eyes and knew that he was so dedicated to this that it was nice to see. She hoped that this was the lead, not just for Jason.
Throwing his hands in the air, Jason shouted for joy. “I have real intel!”
“So, you have found their daughter?” Daisy leaned forward and Jason’s shoulders slumped. “No… not yet, Daisy. This is just one piece of a puzzle…”
“One out of four,” Daisy muttered and Jason looked down at the keyboard and nodded his head. “I can’t even tell Michael and Nikita this if he doesn’t have any girls on his caseload… and if none of them are the age that their daughter would be.”
“This is going to take time,” Daisy whispered and Jason nodded his head. “Daisy… I know that you had…”
“I understand,” Daisy rasped as she stood up. She went to him and pressed a kiss to his lips. “I’m going to take a shower… and get us something to eat… You will eat a sandwich, right?”
“Yes,” Jason nodded his head but he was drawn back to his computer. But this time, Daisy didn’t feel slighted at all and she could only hope that this was the right lead.
