Michael opened the door and looked at the back of Nikita’s body as she was hunched over the computer. He saw that Nikita didn’t turn around and he knew that enough time was given for Nikita to work through whatever was stuck in her head. He had been by her side as she dropped of the enlargement and then by her side in the same church that she had hidden in until he found her as that was the location of funeral service for Kaylie.

Nikita had Beatrice over for the past few days but no change had really happened. She refused phone calls from Whitney and had been in front of the computer trying to find her daughter without even contacting Tom, who was on a lead that Michael thought was probably the most likely to lead to something.

Right now, this was getting them nowhere and if anything, they were moving backwards. Michael turned and closed the door before throwing the lock silently.

“Kita… turn off the computer,” Michael spoke with a firm voice. She wasn’t going to like this. Michael stepped forward and blinked his eyes as he saw that the screen was already deadened. “Ah… I thought you were working.”

“You are here to make me stop,” Nikita stated as she didn’t look at him. Her hands were just slightly off of the keyboard and she tilted her head to the side a bit. “I knew you had to come.”

Michael wasn’t anticipating this. He got to her side and Nikita dropped her hand to her lap and then pulled up the power cord. She handed it to Michael and then looked up at him. “I can’t find her.”

Michael squeezed the cord in his hands and then dropped it towards the corner of the room. “That’s because you are trying to do it on your own.”

“I know that,” Nikita looked at Michael with tears in her eyes. Michael had seen lots of tears in her eyes of late and he hated that she hadn’t shed them. “Kita… this scared me too… but we can’t let it get us off of our game plan.”

“Our game plan?” Nikita questioned as she shook her head slightly from side to side while moving her head to tilt in the other direction. “Next you are going to say that we have a mission plan… that it’s on our panels…”

Michael moved towards Nikita’s side again and reached his hands to cup her face. “You know that we aren’t working that way. We had agreed to work together.”

“And we have…” Nikita’s voice cracked as a few tears slipped from her eyes. “But what if we are too late…”

Michael shook his head as he tightened his grip on Nikita’s face slightly. “Come on, Kita… you know this answer.”

“I can’t help it,” Nikita rasped as she tried to pull away from Michael’s touch, but not with much effort. She then groaned and placed her hands up and around Michael’s wrists. “It just happens.”

“And I’m here to help it to stop,” Michael outlined as he felt Nikita’s grip tighten on his wrists. She was either going to break his hold on her or she was going to allow it. She waited and then used her hands to then start standing up.

Without a warning, Michael felt his hands being pushed down to his sides as Nikita moved her body against hers. She started to aggressively kissing him, pressing her body against his body with heat growing without delay. Her forceful advanced caused Michael to back up to where Nikita wanted him to be. She used her advance to bump Michael’s legs against the bed. He was easily down on his back with Nikita crawling up along him before he took her hands and stopped her. “Don’t do this, Kita.”

Kita looked at him as she pulled back and looked down at the man that she had trapped underneath of her. “I just… want to forget… and celebrate…”

“And stop me from talking about what you don’t want to talk about?” Michael countered as he placed his hands on her knees and rubbed them gently. He waited and Nikita exhaled and looked away. “Is there anything wrong with wanting that?”

“As long as I know that is why you are doing this right now….” Michael whispered as he moved his hands up her thighs, starting the game that she was playing all over again. He was switching the roles. He took this moment to flip her onto her back on the bed. He pressed kisses along her neck and then he felt Nikita’s hands pushing him up off of her body. She looked at Michael and then the tears melted across her face.

Michael eased off of her body quickly and wrapped his arms around Nikita’s body. He waited as she sobbed and Michael rubbed his fingers against her face as he dried at the tears. He simply was there as Nikita cried out what she needed to for about ten minutes before he could speak. “You can’t keep doing this to yourself, Kita.”

Nikita blinked her eyes. “I can’t help it… and I worry…”

“Worry?”

“That it won’t go away once we find her…” Nikita whispered and Michael kissed Nikita’s forehead. “It probably won’t.”

“And what if we find her… and can’t bring her back… or if she is sick… or if she hates us…” Nikita started to rattle off and Michael kissed Nikita’s lips, not out of passion, but out of tenderness. She stopped and looked at Michael. “I want to think that I can live thru it, Michael… but I don’t know if I am.”

“ You are living with it now,” Michael pointed out. “It can impact us, Kita. But we are still living. We have other things in our lives and that’s ok.”

Nikita swallowed and looked away for a second. “I want to speed up until we find her. We have found others that were so dangerous so much easier… it frustrates me.”

“Maybe it’s good,” Michael whispered as he soothed her face with the back of his hand gently. “Maybe this is giving us the time to figure these things out… because we both have some demons to get thru.”

“You don’t…”

“Don’t kid yourself, Kita,” Michael rasped as he shook his head from side to side. “We both of plenty of skeletons in our closets… they are probably a couple huge walk-in closets full of skeletons… I’ve just had more practice at handling it.”

Nikita scratched her head slightly and then looked at Michael. She gasped and turned red. “I tried to seduce you.”

“It wasn’t a really good attempt,” Michael chuckled as he didn’t want Nikita to get too upset about what she had done. “I knew that it was a possible reaction. I didn’t expect you to already to be off of the computer.”

“All day,” Nikita whispered as she looked at Michael. “But I couldn’t leave the room… my mind was running as if there was a computer on… it scared me.”

Michael pulled Nikita tighter to his body. “Tomorrow… you need to go back to the studio… talk with Whitney… pick up the camera…”

Nikita started to shake her head and Michael stopped her movement. “No people, Kita… I swear. I’ll make sure of it. I’ll be there.”

Nikita didn’t agree but she didn’t protest any further. That was a victory for now and Michael rocked from side to side with Nikita in his arms, knowing that they just needed each other in times like this one.
