Michael opened the door since the doorbell was ringing early in the morning and shifted as he saw Walter there, dropping his bag to the porch. “Hey, Michael.”

“Walter,” Michael spoke and Walter leaned forward. “Aren’t you going to let me in?”

“What are you doing here?”Michael inquired and Walter laughed. “I’ve come to be here with Adam while you and Nikita go to Florida.”

Michael stepped to the side as Walter picked up the bag and entered. He turned to see Nikita on the stairs with a small bag on her shoulder. Her legs were so sore this morning, but she refused to slow down. Now Michael looked at her and she didn’t even look away. “Kita… what’s going on here?”

“I’ll see Dr. Hlad today… and then we have a 5:30 pm flight to Florida. We’ll be there around 8 pm their time. We should be to my place by ten in the evening,” Nikita answered while she was slowly coming down the stairs. Michael stood at the bottom and glared at her. “I don’t like this plan.”

“I need this plan,” Nikita replied back as she stopped. She looked so frail standing there but she was not wavering in her eyes. “Damn it, Kita… you should rest after all those cramps.”

“I didn’t need the shot last night,” Nikita pointed out as she stopped and leaned back to sit down in the middle of the stairs. “I’m fine.”

“Dr. Hlad may have test results back that could explain what happened,” Michael spoke as he leaned against the wall at the bottom of the stairs, looking directly up at Nikita. “You may not be able to go tonight.”

“I’m done with hiding from it,” Nikita declared as she looked at Michael with her hands in her lap. “We have to go.”

“You don’t need to take me there… you should be able to talk to me about it here,” Michael shook his head sadly from side to side. “I’m here to listen to whatever you need to talk about.”

Nikita stared at Michael as she shook her head from side to side. She stretched out one of her legs and then bent it back up. “We have to go there.”

“Why?” Michael asked and Nikita just stared at him. She rubbed her hands slowly together and looked at Michael. “Things will make sense…”

Michael winced. “I don’t know, Kita… I’m afraid we’ll go there and you’ll bottle everything up.”

“I’m trying!” Nikita protested as she was now spurred into being angry. “I’m trying as hard as I can.”

“You don’t have to try so hard… you just have to start talking,” Michael urged and Nikita bit her lip and stood up. “You don’t get it.”

“I don’t get it because you won’t explain,” Michael spoke as he stepped to stand right in front of Nikita even as she came down a few steps. She looked like she was ready to push him away. But before Nikita could do that, Michael wrapped his arms around her. “If you really think we have to go, Kita…”

“I do,” Nikita whispered into Michael’s firm shoulder. He could feel the tears coming off of her face and knew that he wouldn’t deny Nikita what she thought she needed to do. “If Dr. Hlad okays the trip.”

Nikita opened her mouth to protest, but she stopped. She knew that Michael valued her physical health at such a high regard that if the doctor did not agree, they would not be going tonight. And Michael would make sure that Davenport would stop her from sneaking away.
