Nikita walked into the kitchen and looked across the table and at Walter. He reached his hand out. “I have your secondary communication units… these are the behind the ear type…”
Nikita slipped it on and looked at Michael. “Channel 1B?”
“Yes,” Michael agreed as he stood there and looked across the room. Adam was sitting there and was only there because he was soon going to be leaving with Jason to another location. From that other location, that neither Nikita nor Michael knew about, Jason and Adam would pretend to be Ben.
“These are backups to both of those units,” Walter spoke as he extended his hands and gave one to Michael and Nikita. Nikita nodded her head as she looked at Jason. “It’s almost as if we have full surveillance and satellite connection.”
“We have that,” Jason spoke as he looked up from his computer while he pulled up a picture of the complex they had confirmed Veronica was being held at. “Tom got me access. Gave me a code and I didn’t ask who’s connection I’m piggy-backing. But I tend to think it’s secure.”
Nikita walked around and nudged at Jason. “Let me see something.”
“Here are some snap balls,” Walter spoke as he continued to outfit Michael with various gadgets without saying exactly what they were since they were in front of Adam. Those snap balls were very powerful explosive devices if necessary. “And you have some of the special wires in your shirt.”
Nikita pushed Jason away a bit more and started to type rapidly. Adam giggled and Michael looked at his son. This was unnerving. He wanted to tell Adam to go into the other room, but Michael also wanted to see him as often as he could. Just in case.
“What are you doing?” Jason inquired and Nikita didn’t blink and continued to work.
“I have some jamming devices too...” Walter stated and Nikita jerked her head up. She looked at the layout and used one hand to point. “One on the east side… one on the west side… and when we get on the ground we’ll put the third one down. Jam all communications… except ours.”
“Kita,” Michael spoke and Nikita looked at him. He nodded his head. “That is about where I was planning on doing that.”
“Can I have the computer back?” Jason inquired as Nikita had continued to type while looking at the layout. Her eyes flickered back to the screen and she finished a few things and stepped away. “You’ll find these connections useful too.”
Jason flickered through the screens and his mouth dropped. “This is just like… it’s even more…”
“Don’t look for where it’s coming from,” Nikita directed as she walked back to the table. Walter looked at Nikita. “All of Section is gone, right?”
“We didn’t always use Section only equipment,” Nikita replied back as she looked at the table. “No armor?”
“I wish I could, kiddo,” Walter shook his head slowly from side to side. “I didn’t get much of that out and you know how the newest stuff has to fit like a glove.”
“They don’t have much firepower,” Nikita shook her head slightly and Walter exhaled slowly. “Tracking beacons…”
Nikita took the two dots and turned away and lifted her shirt up so Adam couldn’t see her putting them on. She looked over at Michael as he stood there. “This isn’t like old times, Michael.”
“We are getting all the right equipment that we can… no messing with inventory,” Michael rasped and Nikita nodded her head up and down. Too many times they went out with the wrong equipment as part of a test from Paul or Madeline. Or it was a ploy to try to eliminate her.
“But no panels to download afterwards,” Walter forced a smile as he started to hand over the guns. They had almost lost Nikita because her panel had been swept before Walter had sanitized it, but that could never happen now. Nikita took the extra clips and started to clip it on. “I never took guns when I was the angel.”
“That doesn’t surprise me,” Michael stated as he moved to Nikita and touched her neck. “This is a solid plan. If needed be, I can do it myself.”
“I’m to protect Veronica,” Nikita announced and Michael backed away. It was comforting to see the focus in Nikita’s eyes. She was ready for this and her mind wasn’t wandering to other things.
Turning, Nikita looked to Jason. “You should go with Adam… now.”
Adam ran to Nikita first. He wrapped his arms around Nikita and squeezed her tightly. He didn’t say a word. He just held her and then stepped away to look at Nikita. She ruffled his hair and exhaled while nodding her head. Nothing needed to be said.
“We’ll be back quickly, Adam,” Michael spoke as he reached out for Adam and hugged him, this time it was Michael squeezing tighter than Adam. Michael pulled away from those emotions as Adam stepped away. “Time to act, Jason… I want to use the cool computer…”
“You’ll use what I want you to use,” Jason commanded as he folded up his computer. He looked to Nikita. “If you didn’t scare me about how you got that type of imagery, I’d look for how you got it.”
“Don’t mess around, Jason,” Nikita warned and Jason nodded his head. He pushed Adam out of the room and Nikita waited to go back to the table. She looked around and pulled at the jacket that she was going to wear to hide most of her supplies for now.
“Ah… Sugar… that other thing…” Nikita turned to look at Walter. He walked over to a bag and pulled out the small pink rag doll. “Lisa said it was Veronica’s favorite.”
Nikita shoved it into her shirt and nodded her head. “Thanks.”
They all paused and Nikita pulled a flash drive out of her pocket. “If something would happen, Walter…”
“I don’t want that,” Walter shook his head and Nikita kept her hand out. “If something would happen to us…”
“Sugar…”
“Take it,” Nikita commented with short words. He took the drive and Nikita nodded her head. “Access to all of my resources are on there… use them all… before Tom.”
Walter nodded his head as he picked up his bag. “I have some things in the van to go over with the both of you… we should get going…”
Walter watched as the couple walked out of the room. It stung like the old days that they both had fought to leave behind. He pushed the drive that Nikita gave him into his pocket. Next to the one that Michael had given to him with almost the same directions. Nothing was going to go wrong and they weren’t going to be needed.
Two angels were going to go save Veronica and the torture that the little girl’s family was living in. Before the world would have thought those two were some sort of angel’s of death, but today, they were going to make things right. Walter just knew it was going to be fine.
Tomorrow they would deal with all the emotions that were suppressed.
