“What the hell are you fools doing?” Walter growled as he jumped out of his car and moved to assist Davenport and Michael as they fought against the large box that they were trying to push into the house. Finally it was over the threshold and Michael and Davenport took a break. “What is this?”

“A freezer,” Davenport rolled his eyes. Walter looked at Michael. “Trying to freeze a body or something?”

“Cookies,” Michael replied and Walter leaned forward onto the box and stared at Michael as the front door closed. “You already have a freezer.”

“But it won’t hold all of the cookies that Nikita is planning on making for Christmas. I think I lost count on the fifteenth kind,” Michael replied and Walter frowned again. “Why didn’t you use the word no?”

“Oh, you are now going to hear the long story,” Davenport rolled his eyes as he stepped away. “I’ve already had this discussion once… so I’m going to rearrange furniture in the kitchen instead of listen to this again.”

Michael shook his head as Davenport moved away. He glanced at his watch and looked towards the kitchen. “Don’t take too long… Nikita should be back soon with the groceries…”

“And then you are going to realize that you probably needed to buy another table too,” Davenport shouted from the kitchen. Michael turned and saw Walter still looking at him. “Don’t start, Walter.”

“You could have told her no,” Walter pointed out. Michael blinked his eyes and then sighed. “You weren’t there yesterday when Adam was… well… he was being a teenager… and Nikita handled it… I couldn’t tell her no.”

“It’s your job,” Walter pointed out and Michael shook his head. “Not right now.”

“Not right now? When? When she is covered from head to toe in flour?” Walter retorted as he pushed away from the freezer. “You are encouraging her by buying this.”

“And there are lots of women who make too many cookies for Christmas,” Michael pointed out as he shrugged his shoulders. “Is this truly something I should fight with Nikita on or should I keep those times for things that are larger. I think the cookies aren’t that important.”

Walter walked away and glanced outside. He didn’t see Nikita and he turned back to Michael. “You are worried about when you are going to start looking for your daughter.”

“I’m worried about being a family with Nikita and Adam first,” Michael hissed as he looked around the house, knowing that Adam was probably hiding upstairs so that he didn’t get pulled into working on this freezer. “Nikita plans on making gingerbread cookies with me and Adam… to decorate it like a family… You weren’t here last night…”

“What happened last night?” Walter asked. Michael squeezed between the freezer and the hallway wall to direct Walter back into the living room. “It isn’t the prettiest tree…”

Michael turned the lights on and Walter could see the really decorated tree sparkle even without the lights plugged in on the tree. Michael looked and shook his head slightly. “She found something right with everything that we bought… things that I wanted were just as important as things that Adam picked… and that she picked… It’s all on that tree.”

“That tree is probably a fire hazard now,” Walter shook his head. Michael sighed as Walter just didn’t understand. “It felt like a family putting the decorations on the tree… I felt it… and if I just felt it… I can’t imagine how it felt for Nikita when she felt it.”

Walter softened and he chuckled. “Yeah… I get you there…”

“She just wants to continue to feel that family feeling. Somewhere she equated baking cookies as another way to feel that. I liked the feeling too… and if I can feel that kind of emotion again… I’m for it. So things might be overboard for a while… until we all get really use to that feeling,” Michael stepped back to the hallway. He looked at Walter and they both started to push the freezer into the kitchen.

“HEY!” Davenport complained. “I’m not done yet!”

“I wanted a drink and I didn’t want to squeeze pass this thing again,” Michael replied as he looked around the kitchen and smiled. “This isn’t going to make this place feel any smaller.”

“With Adam… and me… you’ll probably want the extra space sooner than later for more meat,” Davenport winked. Michael sighed and looked at Walter. “You want to stay around?”

“Nope,” Walter shook his head from side to side. “But call me when there are cookies to eat.”
