Nikita turned her head as her mind recognized the sweet soreness that was surrounding her body. She opened her eyes to see Michael turning his head towards her, his green eyes gazing at hers.

The reason why she was deliciously sore.

Michael pressed a gentle kiss to Nikita’s mouth and paused as he eased away. “Morning.”

“Good morning,” Nikita replied as she shifted and moaned as she felt the muscles in her body groaning with protest. Michael raised an eyebrow and stroked her face. “I know… I feel it too.”

“It’s not bad,” Nikita pointed out and Michael nodded his head. “It was pretty wonderful.”

“It has been a long time,” Nikita nodded as she leaned forward and kissed Michael. She was about to speak again when her stomach growled loudly. Michael’s hand found her stomach and he rubbed it. “We forgot to eat dinner.”

“I can feel that now,” Nikita grinned as she stared at Michael. “It was pretty intense…”

“Yeah,” Michael whispered in reply as both of them could remember the multiple times they coupled throughout the night. Nothing was tender. Both of them had waited too long to be in the other’s arms to be slow. “I should get us something to eat.”

“What happened with dinner?” Nikita inquired and Michael pushed up with a slight wince crossing his face. “I had spaghetti delivered… and a cheesecake for dessert.”

“Cheesecake for breakfast sounds sinful,” Nikita commented as she looked at Michael. “Does it have strawberries?”

“Yes,” Michael nodded his head up and down as Nikita pushed her body up also. She then dropped back to the bed. “Can’t we stay in bed?”

“I’d been tempted to have you again if we stayed in bed,” Michael replied as he reached out for the drawer where he pulled out a pair of boxers. He turned to sit on the bed and look at Nikita. “You should draw another bath.”

They shared the large tub. They always shared the large tub. They faced each other as the bubbles covered the water. Their legs touched each other. No words were being said as they looked at each other. It was these little moments in time that they stole away from everyone else, where they could just be each other. No words were needed. They just needed time together in the tub.

“Are you trying to turn me into a raisin?” Nikita questioned as she knew that she had paused for too long as she got that flash. She knew that she was tired and that was it.

“I’ll join you and become a raisin too,” Michael replied as he leaned over to kiss her. Nikita wrapped her hand behind his neck and held the kiss. Parting, Nikita shook her head. “Stay…. We can bath and eat later…”

Michael thought about it until Nikita’s stomach growled loudly again. Michael shook his head as he stood up and stretched his arms over his head. Nikita looked at his perfect body, noticing that he was just as perfect as the first time she got to touch him. “You should put a shirt on if you aren’t trying to have me ravage you again.”

“Get a bath ready, Kita… and I’ll show you how to enjoy a bath,” Michael winked as he turned to walk out into the hallway.

Nikita slowly sat up as she saw that tub again and shook her head. She had to stop thinking about the past. This was her future and what happened between her and Michael in the past did not matter as much as these moments mattered.

Michael lead the way up the stairs to the bedroom as he held a candle and Nikita held a candle. He went to the side of the bed that was his, the left side, and Nikita went to the right side. Settling their candles down, Nikita was the first to sit on the edge of the bed, looking away from Michael while he finally sits and kicks off his shoes

“How is this going to work?” Nikita inquired as she stared at the wall.

“We can be careful. Take things slowly,” Michael replied with sparse words that did nothing to give Nikita an idea of what to think and to truly understand what Michael was thinking.

“There’s another option, I mean…” Nikita spoke after slightly nodding her head. “We can live today like it’s our last.”

Now Michael leaned over towards Nikita, looking at her as she could feel his breath on her skin. “It very well could be.”

He was studying her for a reaction to his grave words. Neither of them were able to figure out what the other was truly thinking. Nikita turned her head away first. She looked towards the candle as she was conflicted. She was with the man that she loved but he wasn’t all there. He was keeping her away from things and Nikita knew it. He had to know that she knew it also. She didn’t want to look at him any longer as she settled her head on the pillow and stared at the candle.

In time, his hand would come up to her shoulder. His lips would kiss her bare shoulder. They wouldn’t deny what their bodies desired. It would be as Nikita said that they could live as if this was the last day.

Nikita got to her feet, knowing that she had to stop these thoughts before Michael came up to the bathroom. She started the tub in the master bathroom before retreating to the other bathroom where the bottle was. She didn’t shut the door all the way as she opened the medicine cabinet and thought about if she should cut another pill in half.

Her mind was starting to slip to another memory. She was almost sure that she knew that it would be when Michael whispered those words “It wasn’t all a lie” and Nikita willed herself to stay in the present. She slipped the full pill on her tongue and took deep breathes while the pill started to take hold.

“Kita? Kita?” Michael called out and Nikita dropped down to pull out the bath salts and stood up to find Michael in the doorway. She had left the pill bottle down where she had gotten the salts. “I thought that these would help with the bath…”

“That’s a great idea,” Michael agreed as he took Nikita’s hand. He watched her and he laughed. “You look like you are still tired…”

“A bit,” Nikita nodded her head as her stomach churned. She saw that Michael had brought up food and now she didn’t want to eat. “Maybe we can eat later.”

“After you sleep in the tub?” Michael joked as he walked behind Nikita and led her into the bathroom.
