Michael walked into the kitchen and looked at Nikita. “What are you doing up so early?”

“Like you can’t tell,” Nikita declared as she placed her fork down on the plate and smiled at Michael. “You came home yesterday and distracted me a lot…”

“But we still had pizza with Adam,” Michael commented as he poured coffee and sat down at the table. “Crepes?”

“Yes,” Nikita nodded her head up and down. “I think I’m starting to get the knack of cooking.”

“And bacon… and eggs,” Michael commented as he looked at the table. “You have enough food here to feed an army.”

“Walter’s recipes are for large groups. I’m not that good with math, Michael,” Nikita shrugged her shoulders as she stabbed another crepe and ate it with satisfaction on her face. Michael could agree that this was good food and it was a good change. Since last weekend, he had been stealing time away with Nikita whenever he could when Adam was away to spend time with her. They had proved over and over again that their physical attraction did not dull after all of these years.

Nikita swallowed some coffee and looked at Michael. “Why did you come home yesterday?”

Michael placed his cell phone on the table as he had hoped to hear from Davenport again. The last he had heard from Jason was that Davenport had lost the trail of Mick in London and it was a shame. He looked at Nikita and sobered slightly. “If I started what I needed to do… I would have been there until really late.”

“And what did you need to start?” Nikita inquired and Michael reached out for her hand. “I think I finally isolated the baby’s DNA source in the items you had kept.”

Nikita blinked her eyes in shock and exhaled sharply. “Wow… I wasn’t expecting that…”

“I should have found it sooner,” Michael countered as he didn’t believe that he had taken this long to find the right materials. He turned to see Adam dragging his feet as he entered the kitchen. “Good morning, Adam.”

“Whatever,” Adam mumbled and Nikita pulled her hand away to look at Adam. He looked like he had barely slept and that was absolutely not because of them. If there was one thing that Nikita had been extremely careful of, beyond making sure that she was taking her birth control as prescribed, was that they were not making love when Adam was around. “Are you ok, Adam?”

“Fine,” Adam sat down at the table and blinked. “Who dropped off all this food?”

“I made it,” Nikita happily replied as she placed a plate in front of Adam. “You said that you liked crepes.”

“A crepe,” Adam rolled his eyes as he winced as he swallowed some orange juice. “Seriously, this is too much food.”

“Try some,” Michael directed his son as he was not happy with the tone that Adam was using with Nikita right now. He didn’t know what was in Adam’s mind at times and Michael was going to have to spend some alone time with him. Michael had been trying hard to have the three of them spend time together, but this had to stop. Nikita was doing a good job with Adam’s attitude but it was grating on Michael so it was soon going to cause Nikita grief.

“Ah… I’m going out today after you two get going,” Nikita announced as she stood up and took her plate to the sink. She looked at the table and blushed. “And after I put the extra food away.”

“Where are you going?” Michael inquired and Nikita looked out the window as she froze for a second.

The server was taking time to respond and Nikita didn’t like that. She only had a few moments here and she just wanted to check on everything, things that she didn’t even let Jason know about. She waited and waited and then she saw an image of something coming up.

It was a package.

Nikita pulled up the details and she saw the name first the delivery was made to: Josephine Michaels. She felt her heart start to race as she reviewed the address and saw that the name of the person sending the delivery was Mick Jones.

He even placed a dot in the o and e of Jones as Nikita had directed him to do so she would know that it was absolutely him.

Nikita didn’t know why Mick was now reaching out to her. It had been a long time and this seemed wrong. She typed in directions to have that delivery shipped to one of her places that was closer to the house. She was going to have to retrieve the package, but it was necessary.

Mick had made contact and that couldn’t be good.

“I just want to go shopping for something special,” Nikita turned and smiled at Michael. Michael raised an eyebrow and he licked his lips. “Can I talk you into taking Phillip with you? You like Phillip.”

“I am going somewhere special, Michael,” Nikita commented again and Adam dropped his fork sharply. “She is going to get some sexy clothes to impress you, dad. I don’t think she needs Phillip’s help.”

“Adam!” Michael exclaimed as he was horrified by Adam’s statement. It was clear that Nikita was flirting with him and he kind of liked it, although it did seem a bit forced and planned. He could not shake the feeling that Nikita was planning something else, but he was trying to give Nikita the benefit of the doubt.

“Are you feeling ok, Adam?” Nikita asked as she walked back to the table and looked at Adam. “You look a bit pale.”

“Its fall and it hasn’t been sunny much,” Adam retorted as he pushed his plate away, barely having had any of the crepe that he had dragged onto his plate. HE looked at the clock and looked at his father. “Can you drive me to school? I’m late for the bus.”

Michael nodded his head. “We’ll talk some.”

“I was just speaking the truth. You hate when people lie,” Adam pushed away from the table. “I’ll get my book bag and we have to go.”

Michael stood up and placed his plate into the sink and cleaned off Adam’s plate into the garbage before turning that into the sink. He stepped in front of Nikita and kissed her lips gently. “I’m sorry about him. I’ll talk to him.”

“I shouldn’t have been doing that in front of him, Michael,” Nikita shook her head slightly from side to side.

“It’s not acceptable,” Michael shook his head as he shoved his hands into his pockets. “I may be late tonight… it might take the DNA some time to process.”

Nikita blinked and swallowed. “I understand.”

“Phillip is still going to try to follow you,” Michael warned as he pulled away from Nikita. Nikita smirked and winked. “Let him try.”

Michael rolled his eyes and he really did miss Davenport right now. He felt that something was going on that he wasn’t quite aware of and that he had to figure it out. But right now, Phillip wasn’t going to do that for him. Michael went to the back door and called out to Adam, who practically stomped out of the door.

Nikita settled at the table and closed her eyes for a second.

”It’s a girl, Sugar… you have a baby girl!” Walter exclaimed as he held the small baby in his hands as he barely lifted his head to look up at Nikita. He had tears in his eyes and Nikita was crying too, but not because she was happy.

“I see,” Nikita rasped and Walter looked around. “I think I put her on your stomach…”

“No,” Nikita shook her head. “I can’t have that, Walter… Hold her… until I can hold her…”

“She looks just like you, Sugar.”

Nikita knew that she was thinking of this because of Michael getting close to retrieving the DNA. It was what they wanted but Nikita didn’t want to tell Michael that every time he spoke about the DNA she thought about that birth. Nikita swallowed hard and stood up. She headed up stairs and then stopped. She had to drive across town and she couldn’t take the medicine right now.

Nikita went back to the kitchen to put the food away. She had cooked for a couple hours this morning when she had suddenly woke up in Michael’s arms. Nikita had been really hungry so she cooked a lot. That was probably the one thing that she hadn’t had much problems with of late, she was eating.

Rubbing her neck, Nikita gathered up her keys and checked on the location of Phillip. She did not know what Mick had sent her and it scared her. It could be a trap. It could be Mick in trouble. It could be so many things and Nikita wasn’t sure what it meant. She had been informed of Davenport seeing Mick in London and Nikita was sure that it was purely coincidence. But now with this package, Nikita wasn’t quite sure.

What if someone knew where they were?

Nikita pushed those thoughts out of her mind as she went to the closet and pulled out the black coat. She was going to go for a walk. She had a car stashed a couple blocks away that no one knew about. She had about an hour’s drive to the location that she would be able to pick up the package and there was no way that Phillip was going to find that out.
