“I don’t think we need to be bothering Nikita with other things right now, “ Ellie spoke up as she tried to reach out and take the envelope out of Walter’s hand. Walter lifted it in the air and looked at Nikita. She sighed. “I forgot I left it out there.”

“Just like you forget to buy the rest of the material that came along with that little thing that was in the bag with this?” Walter quipped and Nikita dropped her eyes. “I had to go get it.”

“I think enough has gone on…” Ellie tried again. Nikita winced as she reached for it. Michael took the envelope and looked at Nikita. “Mick Jones?”

“It is from Mick,” Nikita nodded her head as she looked at Michael. He moved closer and studied Nikita. This wasn’t the right place or time. He stroked Nikita’s head. “It can wait.”

“No,” Nikita rasped as she took her good hand and pointed for the envelope. Michael pulled it away as he was afraid that Nikita was going to take it out of his hand. Nikita grunted and looked at Michael. “I was just going to point out that I know that it is our Mick and not someone else who might have plans to try to get me because he put those dashes inside the o and the e of the name Jones.”

“That’s it?” Walter questioned as he shook his head. “That’s not enough to say that it is Mick.”

“It isn’t,” Nikita winced as she shifted again even with the pain of her possibly broken collar bone. “I have several addresses that Mick could send things to. He was the only person who knew of the two addresses. One was for he was in danger and the other was for when he wasn’t in danger. He sent it to the address that indicates that he wasn’t in danger.”

Michael sat back down and stared at the envelope. “And?”

Nikita smiled gently as she was grateful that Michael realized that she had put lots of things into place to protect her and to protect her friends. “I never would go to either of these locations… I had it sent to an address not far from here… about ninety minutes away. The name that he sent it to is also the name that I gave him to use if I was safe.”

“And what is the name if you weren’t safe?” Walter asked. Nikita looked at Michael and exhaled. “HE would have addressed it to Nikita Wirth.”

“That’s damn dangerous,” Michael commented and Nikita nodded her head. “Easy to make it clear to me about my position.”

“And he has contacted you before?” Michael asked and Nikita moved her head negatively from side to side. “No. Never.”

“It would have been better if Davenport would have found him,” Walter sunk to the coach. Ellie stood there. “None of this matters right now. This isn’t the time for more intrigue.”

Nikita reached for the envelope and Michael relented. Nikita turned it in her hands and stared at it. “I don’t know what he would have to send me if he isn’t in danger and I’m not in danger.”

Nikita swallowed hard and she heard the others talking. She didn’t really listen to them as she just stared at his handwriting. She had tried to talk Mick into adjusting his writing slightly from time to time, but he never did. She noted that this was sent from in Maine and it was before he was spotted in London. Finally she ripped it open and pulled out the paper before really looking at it.

The tiny formations that were on the paper brought tears to Nikita’s eyes. The two red ones were hand prints and then the left foot was green and the right foot was purple. She carefully traced the ridges and the little traits that she knew too well. “Oh my gosh…”

“What?” Michael looked at Nikita as he tried to look over at the paper as he wasn’t sure if Nikita was crying because she was sad or for some other reason. It was an odd mix as she almost looked happy. “Nikita?”

“He gave me part of her…” Nikita rasped as she placed the paper against her chest. She looked at Michael. “Did you bring me wood box here?”

“What is going on?” Walter inquired but Michael waved Walter’s question off. “Yeah… It’s upstairs in the guest room.”

“I need it. Although I know… I know that Mick gave me part of her back,” Nikita smiled as she looked at Michael. “Please get it for me?”

Michael nodded his head slightly up and down. He got up and warned both Ellie and Walter with his eyes to just let this go on as it was right now. Ellie rubbed her hands together. “I’m going to get some more ice for your shoulder.”

Nikita could hear Michael’s footfalls as he ran up the stairs and quickly into the guest room. It didn’t take him long until he was there, handing her the box. “I can take the paper…”

“Can I have your Swiss Army knife, Walter?” Nikita inquired as she kept the paper and placed the box on her lap. Walter frowned as he handed the knife over to Nikita. She took the lid off of the box and flipped it up. There was a lining there and she used the knife to cut a small notch and then used the dull edge to push out the microSD card. “Your phone, Michael?”

Michael handed over the phone as he was stunned that he didn’t think to check that box further. He opened the back of the phone and inserted the microSD card into it and pulled the pictures up. Then he blinked and looked at the prints. “Handprints… footprints…”

“Our daughter’s,” Nikita nodded her head as she turned the paper over and showed it to Michael. “Mick did it too… but his is what every mother wants… it in color... in paint… something crafty and personal…. Not just a computer image… but I know that they are hers…”

“You’ve had her handprints!” Walter boomed as Ellie walked back into the room. She moved over and took the ice off of Nikita’s shoulder and placed the new compress over. “We need to get that x-rayed.”

“Michael…” Nikita looked at him and reached for his hand. “Can you just take me to our room… and hold me… and this part of our daughter?”

Michael looked at the paper and could see that this one piece of paper, although causing Nikita to cry, had made her happy. He found his head nodding up and down before he could respond.

He was going to do as Nikita wished right now.
