“He had questions…” Nikita spoke as she looked at Michael. “About the baby.”

“Your baby… with my father… you should be saying our baby – not the baby,” Adam fired out as he knew that he was already in trouble. He might as well push the issue for as long as he could right now. He was almost ready to have his father pick him up by his ear at that moment.

“I didn’t name her,” Nikita snapped as she shook her head from side to side. “I never thought about names… I knew that she wasn’t mine to have… so I never thought of names.”

Michael stood there as he stared at Nikita. She was talking right now, but he knew that it was at a great expense. Adam put her into an impossible situation and now she was giving him exactly what he desired. But it was so clear that Nikita wasn’t ready for this.

Yet, Michael couldn’t stop her because he craved this information so badly but would never have pushed for it.

Nikita shifted and backed up against the arm of the couch as she looked at Michael and Adam back and forth. “I don’t think about what she may be… because all I can think about when thinking about her are those bare minutes that I had her in my arms.”

Adam glanced at his father and saw the shock on his dad’s face. Adam felt guilty about this, but he wanted everyone to think about things that they hadn’t been thinking about. “You have to find Mick. He can know where she is… He may still have her.”

“No,” Nikita swung her head from side to side.

“No to finding Mick?” Adam asked as he tilted his head. Nikita swung her head from side to side. Adam sighed. “He knows where he took her… and if he liked you as much as my dad said… why wouldn’t he keep the baby? He had to know that you might find a way to get out… that you would want to know her.”

Nikita shook her head as Michael stepped forward, staring at her. Adam was giving her a wildest dream scenario. She had probably thought of that option before she had even had Walter take their baby to Mick. It was too easy for Mick to do that, but Michael knew Nikita as a damn good operative.

“He wouldn’t do that… he followed the directions, Adam.”

“So, he sent you a picture of the baby on a pew… that doesn’t mean that he didn’t pick her back up and take her out of there,” Adam retorted. Nikita closed her eyes as Michael stepped closer to the couch. “Adam… this is not the right time…”

“Stop,” Nikita looked at Michael and shook her head. “He won’t stop prodding until he hears it… because he still doesn’t get how dangerous… deadly it could be… for all of us.”

Adam looked at Nikita and rolled his eyes. “I get it.”

“Mick wouldn’t risk my daughter,” Nikita’s voice cracked as her entire body trembled. “He would have died making sure that he followed my directions.”

“But you can’t be sure!”

“I can,” Nikita snapped as she sat up straight. “I had a tracker on her… not in her, but in the blanket… and Mick had been tagged months earlier with an internal tracker.”

“How?” Michael questioned as he did not know how Nikita could have gotten Mick tagged.

“An operative who was training… in Valentine Ops…” Nikita shrugged her shoulders slightly. “He was an easy profile… and the operative was none the wiser that it was something that I needed to be done.”

“So you have the tracking separating,” Michael rasped as he knew that this was something that he would have done. It made sense.

“But the baby blanket could have been switched out…. Mick could have still found a way to keep her!” Adam protested as he pounded his hands against his legs, finding it difficult that no one would consider what he was saying.

“He didn’t,” Nikita shook her head from side to side. “Confirmed by multiple operatives who ran into him… broke into his residence… no sign of a baby, Adam – ever. He didn’t keep her.”

Adam groaned. “You have to want to find her!”

“Maybe I don’t,” Nikita hissed as she stood up. “You know it all now, Adam. Everything. Happy?” Nikita questioned as she looked at Adam and started across the room. Michael stepped to the side and grabbed her hands. “Let’s go take a walk, Kita…”

“Alone,” Nikita pulled away from Michael and his touch. She left the room and did not go outside. Instead, she went upstairs.

Michael knew that this was an opening, because he did not think that Nikita had told everything right now. There was a lot to discuss and right now may be the only time that Nikita was going to continue to give information.

But he had one more piece of business to take care of right now. Michael turned his attention to his son and extended his hand. “Cell phone.”

“Come on, dad… look at how much you learned!” Adam sang out his protest, although he knew very well that he was going to end up handing over his cell phone.

“You blindsided her… you body checked her into the boards… you clipped her… Adam… you really hurt her with that stunt!” Michael’s voice rose in intensity and in volume. Michael exhaled and looked at his hand. “Cell phone.”

Adam pulled it out and huffed as he slapped it into his father’s hand. “She is talking, dad… that’s what we all wanted.”

“She is talking now… but this is going to backfire at some point, Adam,” Michael shoved Adam’s cell phone into his pocket. He looked across the room and Adam started to shake his head, knowing what his father was going to request right now. “Get me the game system power cord, Adam.”

“Dad!”

“Now,” Michael declared without hesitation. Adam stood up and stomped over to the television console and pulled out the power cord. He slapped it into his father’s hand and dropped to the couch. “This is so unfair. I was doing your job.”

Michael forced himself to sound to ten because that last statement rubbed Michael immediately raw. But Michael held his composure. “I’m going to do my job and be there for Nikita because she is suffering… and later we are going to further discuss you purposely going against my wishes and your additional punishment.”
