“I can’t believe… that Operations is here…” Ellie shook her head as she walked into her office. She had never thought she would see that woman again after she handed her an envelope and told her to follow the directions in it. From those moments of being afraid that she was marked to be killed, Ellie found herself with an identification that allowed her to learn more about medicine while working with the military as she also transferred the cutting edge knowledge that she had learned while working at Section. She had also come across one or two operatives that she thought had died in combat to find out that they too had been released.

“First, call her Nikita,” Tom spoke as he closed the door and stood in front of the door. “She never felt like she was Operations in her mind… she is Nikita.”

“And there is no Section?” Ellie inquired and Tom nodded his head up and down. “You were the last doctor that she got out of there. One of the very last people that she got out of Section cleanly.”

“Cleanly?” Ellie questioned and Tom winced. “With a full plan of what they could do… an identification… with help.”

Ellie rubbed her head. “I knew that something was going on… some of the best staff was suddenly gone… she said transferred… but never to where they had transferred.”

“And you didn’t think when she got you out?”

“I was leery at first… and then I settled,” Ellie rasped as she rubbed her neck. “I didn’t have a family to go back too. So it was easy to take on the new life. I just never thought I’d see her again.”

“The man with her… is Michael Samuelle… I know that you came in after he had already left…”

“The man that she loved,” Ellie whispered as she smiled. “I know that I was lucky. I heard about the old Operations and the old regime… and believe me… everyone knew of Michael Samuelle… and of his love for the woman who was in charge. Most thought that he was going to storm the compound to take her out of there…”

“I’m not going to tell you the details… because I don’t know the details,” Tom sighed as he leaned to the side. “But she really needs you and you were the only option.”

“Leg cramps,” Ellie spoke and Tom tilted his head. “Do you think that is the only reason why I made sure that she came to you?”

“Now?” Ellie shook her head negatively back and forth. “Most of the former operatives that I’ve interacted with since… which I am beginning to think was more of a setup… had some sort of… traumatic memories going on.”

“You’ll have to make that determination for yourself,” Tom announced as he pulled out the USB key and extended his hand. “Section databases don’t exist anymore. However, Nikita had some insurances put into place… one of her friends was able to extract most of her medical history that was in Section.”

“So I have her years in Section,” Ellie took the key and inserted it into her tablet. She skimmed the files just as quickly as they transferred over. “No other doctor would have known what to think about any of this.”

“Let’s just hope that she is still in that room,” Tom turned to the door and stopped for a moment. “And let’s hope that she is still talking.”

“Still talking?” Ellie questioned and Tom looked at the door knob. “Section was boarded up a long time ago… you’ll have to ask Nikita details… but she spent a lot of time in solitude and silence… at a convent… She had avenues for support and I was to be her handler… it didn’t go as planned at first.”

Ellie rubbed her earlobe as she looked up from the tablet. “First thing is first… the cramps.”
